Where did it come from (Newegg / ZipZoomFly / etc)?

And as was already asked...perhaps you could share the stepping and date.

sorry i didnt really pay much attention to the writing on the cpu. but it is OEM, stepping KAB1E or something. and the date i think was 2206.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Socket_939.html <-- if u buy the oem from there, it will almost definatly hit 3ghz

link to the thread where people are oc'ing them: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...6&page=1&pp=30

mouawad, did you find yours bsod when testing stability(with p95)? it'd be explainable if it was getting hot, but mine is 52c max

well a bit of heat isn't a problem under strong single stage

but i will say that these 4000+ chips are the hottest i've ever used, by the looks of your PWM temps (69c ) that could be the problem here.....you got a fan you can put across this area??? it might help you squeeze some more out of it.

Very nice 4000. Lately the X2 3800's have also been clocking very well. It seems that amd is finally letting us use the full potential of their chips with killer pricing to boot.

my 146 used to get hotter, but then it did need 1.58v to hit 2.8ghz. this needs 1.46v to hit 3150 and is cooler

yea pwmic is hot its a cramped area too so im gonna have trouble getting a fan down there.

i just wondered if yours whilst on the limit gives BSODs. or what else does it do?

i normally get freezing when pushing too hard, my problem is coldbug....i've had it upto 3670 for a screenshot but it freezes pretty much straight away. the 12x multi helps a lot i can clock this alot higher than my 148 opteron which was decent but after a certain point coldbug just takes over

i think 3.1-3.2 under air is the best i've seen for these late production 4000+ so you're probably just hitting the wall.

btw where abouts are you located?? do you have same KAB1E stepping?

    uk. and yes.

well im 10hrs stable in p95 at 3150 i'll leave it at this and see how it goes for a week or so and then cool my pwmic and ram and then see if i can go higher (stably!!). im sure it could do a 3.3 - 3.4 suicide shot, but id like to keep my windows working :P

with that 3.5 GHz screenshot, what kind of cooling is that?!

my 4400+ is 110w i should get an 89w one just because i hate this 110w one.
