Lightbulb 84.29 SEDONA modded for SLI on any chipset

As there is still strong interest in modded drivers for SLI on this forum I have decided to make the 84.29 SEDONA driver available here.

It's another modified driver for all of those with two 6x00/7x00 series cards (minus the 7950GX2) that allows SLI on Intel and ATI chipsets.

Unlike previous modified drivers this one has the new SEDONA control panel.

Note that the archive is password protected.

    DOWNLOAD 84.29 SEDONA HERE

TO AVOID DRIVER CONFLICTS PLEASE UNINSTALL THE PREVIOUS DRIVER AND RUN DRIVER SWEEPER PRIOR TO INSTALLING!

Disclaimer: YOU USE THIS DRIVER AT YOUR OWN RISK!

NOTE: You will need to remove the space between the 'n' and the 'v' in the password above, the forum has a width limitation that I can't do anything about.

If anyone wants any of the other modified drivers you can access them from the same link above (they are not password protected).

Check The Pass, Does Not Work Or The Pass Is Not The Correct One.

    Thank You.

There is a space in the password in the above post that I can't remove - you'll have to do it manually. It's too long for the width of the thread... Sorry for the confusion.

whats the point of password protecting it? why not just re release it without a password?

I'm counting the hits on the driver and the hits on the forums. No-one can access the driver without accessing the forum for the password. That's why .

    Dear chinobino,

I cannot thank you enough!! You have saved me $400+ !! I was just about to give up on my Abit AW9D-MAX with 2 x 7900GT's..

I have been running this following setup for well over 12 months using Big Sams 85.96 Modded SLI driver without any issues what so ever. Playing Battlefield 2142, Quake 4, Counter Strike etc with no crashing what so ever..

    Intel E6300 CPU
    Abit AW9D-Max Motherboard
2 gigs Corsair Value Select DDR2 667 RAM
    2 x Sparkle Nvidia 7900GT Video Cards
    Antec Neo He 500W PSU

Now i recently just bought a copy of the new Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. After installing and playing for the first time it seems my system will crash randomly roughly 10 - 15 mins into game play. I first thought it was an issue with my over clock settings but i pushed everything back to stock and it would still crash.. I updated the AW9D-MAX BIOS from Version 12 to the latest version 15.. Once i done this every game would start to crash, even the ones that worked with the 85.96 modded SLI driver. I have tried practically all the other modded drivers Ie 84.XX and it would still crash on practically every game!! I reloaded the original BIOS verison 12 and i came across this 84.29 SEDONA driver so i thought i might as well give it a go before i take a dent out of my wallet and order the nvidia 680i motherboard.

After installing the 82.29 SEDONA driver & the original BIOS version 12 the result.. I can now play all my games in SLI using the above configuration with this 84.29 SEDONA driver. Well i have been for the past 6 hours and thats enough proof that these drivers work for me!! Once again i cannot thank you enough chinobino for sharing this driver!!

I urge anyone having issues with the AW9D-MAX to give this driver a try before giving up on the motherboard..

Currently i am scoring 7,601 points on 3dmark06 with the system over clocked to 2.35ghz from stock 1.86ghz using 335 x 7 multiplier. 1.5000v cpu core voltage, 2.10v DDR2 SDRAM voltage & 1.75v MCH & PCIe voltage.

IS this a good score for my specs?? Any ideas on how i could improve?? I am thinking of buying some better quality RAM.. Thoughts??

    Re: Update

    Hi All,

I have just purchased 2 gigs of Patriot DDR 800mhz ram which is SLI certified RAM. I have installed the RAM and made a few minor tweaks in the BIOS.

I have found that with this new RAM i am unable to overclock the CPU to the same speeds as with the Corsair value select ram. But even so i have pulled off an 8,662 score on 3dmark06 running the E6300 stable @ 2.24GHZ.

I have also used the over clocking tool in the drivers, I am able to push the Sparkle 7900GT's up to 550mhz core / 800mhz memory stable.

All my games play perfect and the new Unreal Tourney Beta looks Awesome in SLI!!

Thanks again for the drivers Chinobino.

Hey all, long time since I checked this thread.

Thanks for all the positive comments and I'm glad that some people are making use of the drivers XD.

Unfortunately the newer nVidia drivers (anything newer than 85.96) are encrypted and cause a black screen when the code is altered and SLI is enabled :"(''''.

nVidia began encrypting them when they released the first 7950GX2 driver IIRC... I have tried many methods to bypass the encryption (going so far as to edit the BIOS of my CFX3200 to read as an nVidia crush chipset CK804) but did not have success. It seems there are mutliple checks and even if the code is not altered you must pass the checks while the system is running.

The likelyhood of getting newer drivers or newer card support for SLI on non-nVidia mobo's is nil.

Unless Intel and nVidia come to some sort of arrangement, and even then you'll probably still need an nforce 100/200 SLI chip on the motherboard to pass the driver check (remember the Dell Precision 690, anybody? Or the Alienware m9750 gaming laptop?) then I would expect things to stay as they are.

With the amount of drivers that nVidia release to fix issues in new games while Vista/DirectX10 is being developed and the desire to have more than 3.5GB of RAM - I decided to drop the whole thing.

Technology moves fast - it's easy to get left behind.

So that is why I am posting here today, on my recently built PC (QX9650, XFX 780i SLI motherboard with 2 8800GT's, Vista x64 and 4GB of G.Skill RAM). In the end I relented and bought an nVidia board to run SLI.

    nVida win.
