Guys, may I have your comments on this one? Asus P4P800DLX REV 2.00

A couple of days ago, one member over a greek forum, informed us that the biggest computer store chain in Greece, has the asus p4p800deluxe rev 2.0 boards available.

Since I owned a rev 1.02 p4p800deluxe which run great, i decided to buy one of these rev2.0 and try it out...
The clerk at the store let me open the box(which is a bit changed compared to my 1st board) a sticker(yeap, a sticker) between the 3rd and 4rth pci slots that had "P4P800 Rev2.00" written and the bios sticker that said 1009(later bios than my 1st mobo).

Here is a pic of the mobo:

Well, what do you think ? haven't met something like this before, should i email asus and the store i bought the mobo from about it, or it's something regular and I shouldn't look into it?
    Thanx,

It could be a revison 2 without a change to the mb layout, maybe just different componets ?

But I've never seen a board revison labled with just a sticker over the old revison #!

Why don't you email Asus and see whats up !

Also going from a rev 1.02 to a revision 2 is suppose to be a significant change ! I would think it wourd require a different mb layout for such a change.

Does the mb have any new features ???

No change at all, from what I can see... the same capacitors and mosfets missing, just like the regular p4p800s....

The only significant change, is the bios sticker(well, yes another sticker) that says 1009, which is quite new for a rev1.2 mobo....

hmmm, if the board looks live a rev 1.02 board, and it says 1.02 on it, i would be vary wary about it. that is very odd...

Wow, they really did a great job, redesigning the board and all....
Simply put a sticker, and a new rev is born....

Well RootX it appears that Rev2 is pretty common ! Just wondering what was changed ? I'm sure something has to be different. Voltage options in BIOS maybe ??

Well, it's always good to know that you're not alone, lol...

I'll be checking this weekend for any changes (will compare it with an original 1.02 rev), mod it and stick it in the prommie...

I bought the P4c 800-e Deluxe Rev. 2 and it's the same way. Rev.1.02 on the board and a sticker with Rev. 2.0 over it. However the heatsink below the cpu is turned diag. to the board edges and the cpu. It is black. The Pics are showing it squared to the sides of the board and cpu. ?

I cant find any difference in it either, but what is the fuss about? ASUS isnt marketing anything as a rev 2.00, they just apparently changed something and are calling it the rev 2.00 from now on, they havent made any press release this is just internal stuff... they wouldnt bother putting a sticker on it if nothing changed, but aside from that the boards perform and act identical.

I could be completely wrong, but I think it has to do with the pseudo PAT. I vagely recall reading something of a deal between Asus&Intel, that if Asus didn't enable their "MAM" automatically anymore, Intel would give some free publicity. So I think they took their "old" boards, put a new Bios in it or change something trivial besides that, and eversince then, Asus has a recommendation sticker on their P4P800/del boards from Intel.

Again, I could be completely wrong.

I don't think the Rev 2 sticker is a big deal at all. Rev changes can certainly be made without having to effect the mobo traces themselves, so there may have been no opportunity to change the silkscreen to say rev 2.

The only thing I would check is to see if you still have the Memory Acceleration choice in the BIOS. Intel did indeed put pressure on these guys to stop that from happening. More importantly, it was Intel that was issuing a revised northbridge that would prevent it. I would imagine that a new northbridge would have the same pin out...so no need to retool the mobo. Perhaps a good reason for a sticker?

I spent the last three days trying to make it sense...
If the rumors are true, I think revision 2.0 of P4C800 is just revision 1.04 with simply a sticker covering it.
Of course, revision 2.0 of P4C800-E is just revision 1.02 with simply a sticker covering it.
The apply of the sticker doesn't make sense if not for only a marketing point of view. Prescott's knoking at the door and sure if people see "rev.2.0" labelled on the motherboards is happy and sure it will work fine with the new cpu.
What is sure, if you have a black heatsink you sure don't have to worry about your revision, it's the last.

EDIT about PAT on P4P: Since the last revisions it is very difficult to enable it (you have set RAM 1:1 @ 200 MHz and can't use the others divisors) so I think it hasn't changed anything in that sense.

EDIT about my English: This is the best I can do, sorry!!!

When you go to there website does it have a different BIOS listed for REV. 1.0x and REV. 2 boards?

Try opening 3Dmark01, then go to system info and click on motherboard info and see what rev it says it is.

Some of my friends have P4C800 and P4C800-E revision 2.
When using CPU-Z or WCPUid (I don't remember which one) they only get displayed rev.1.x.
Maybe it will be fixed with the new release of the program, but I think it's because they are, simply, rev.1.x boards.

    Hi All,
I too have a P4P800 rev 2 w/ 1.02 under white sticker, just ran CPU-Z and it shows 1.xx for the model # under the mainboard heading. It would be intersting to get to the bottom of this.
