Modders ram. High end DDRII/DDRIII without heatspreaders.

I've often thought it would be nice to see a company produce high end modules with warranty that lack heatspreaders so OverClockers/modders can supply thier own without voiding any warranty.

The Geil Black Dragon memory is nice for being like this as it is good performance memory and you can slap any heatspreader on there without voiding the warranty because you don't have to remove a heat spreader to install another. I would much pref to buy G.Skill memory though but I am giving though to buying a kit of that Black Dragon to replace the 4gb kit of G.Skill in my Shuttle just so I can get some more adequate cooling on the ram. And I will not touch that OCZ HPC memory with it's high fail rate compared to other memories.

I would love to see G.Skill offer some memory bare like the Geil Black Dragon and maybe put some nifty LED's on the ram too

I support this but for a different reason. I like to run my memory naked as the subtle look is more appealing to me than the RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR look at meeeeeeeeeee I'm so faaaaaaaaaaaaaast look of 99% of RAM out there.

That's actually a pretty cool idea. I would definitely buy it for my next build for ease of watercooling.
