    my corsair XMS 3200XL wont...

i got some corsair XMS pc3200XL. i cant take the IHS off for some reason to see the chips but, i cant get it past 230FSB without spi making this error

my timings are pritty relaxed, and this cpu before using this ram used to be S/PIable at 2.65GHZ. so i know its not the cpu. (winchester 3200+ 939)

its has 2.85V so ime not sure what is going wrong here?

    help needed! thanks

i think its BP pcb and TCCD chips. but i cant get the dam hs off. i got it to 245mhz 2.5-3-3-6 and it had 6.6GBps sandra bandwith. rebooted a few seconds later at maxx 2.85V. on the msi k8n neo 2 platnium.

disabled 2T wich i forgot to do in the above pic

dont try too hard to get the heatspreader off, i once ripped 2 ram chips off the pcb doing that try and get a beta bios with more vdimm options and try say 3v, if it is TCCD which i suspect it may be then it should hit some good speeds at around 3v

its TCCD. ime sure of it. it has the BP pcb letters on the pcb, so i suspect its tccd. no point in taking the hs off anyway.

beta bios with more vdimm voltages? is there one for the msi k8n neo 2?

i think so, i'm sure theres one with more vcore and vdimm voltage options but i'm unsure which it is as i have a Neo 1

The Corsair 3200XL v 1.2 are indeed using BP 815 PCB and Samsung TCCD ICs. Just for the record, I ran two 512 MB sticks in dual-channel 2.5-3-3-5 1T @ 2.85V on the Abit AV8 (VIA K8T800 Pro) perfectly stalble at 270 MHz.

And two sticks of 256 MB on the same setup 2.5-4-3-7 1T @ 307 MHz. I think they're pretty good... considering they managed this kind of performance on a K8T800 Pro motherboard.

Here's a screenshot of one pass in memtest 2.5-3-3-5 1T @ 270 MHz... nevermind the speed of the CPU... it was cooled by a TR XP120 with no kind of clips attached to the socket so I couldn't try running at higher speeds.

Try changing the DIMM slots. Don't forget to lower your HTT multi (down to 3x should be fine). Also try lowering the speed of your CPU (just to make sure ... don't use .5 multipliers). Raising your PSU voltages won't help you unless you have a properly modded motherboard. Cheers!

well i managed 290FSB with one stick spi stable. used 4XHTT for 250, 3X for 300. i know 1 sticks dont overclock aswell, but not making it past 227FSB is stupid when it does 290 2.5-3-3-5 1T

    was tested 290@ 2.6GHZ

1 stick gives you much more OC potential... loads the A64 mem controller much less. Have you tested both sticks in the same conditions? Both do 290 MHz? Look for the OC-guide threads on your MSI motherboard... you could get your answer there. I'm sure the RAM is not an issue here.

Make sure your HT bus isn't running much more than 1000mhz. Therefore drop you HT multiplier earlier. Above 200 use x4. Above 250 use x3.

    Keep "Aggressive Timings" disabled.

Are you dropping the multiplier on your CPU far enough?

    alright ime back!

both sticks in single channel do 280+ 2.5-3-3-5 1.85V so the rams are fine.

ime not sure what is stopping me here. it cant be my memory controller right?

ile took a screenshot of A64 tweaker and others so u can see my settings.

hope u can halp. also what A64 OC guide you talking about?

EDIT> i just run dual chanel again and got to 230mhz it passed 1M pi. got to 231 and it rebooted and this was at 2.5-3-3-5 1T 1.85V. i seriously need help here. used the 4X for below 250mhz. disabled spread spectrum?.

please if anyone can help me

Try and use the 3x HT multi. More than 2.85v won't help out tho with TCCD RAM, at 2.85v is the max it likes as I far as I knew, altho there was some that liked more but I don't think that was your run of the mill TCCD. Not even sure if it was TCCD, anyway.

Your memory controller may just not work up to those speeds in dual channel

ive tryed 4X for up to 250mhz and 3x 250+ the ram in single run at 300 1:1 so both sticks are fine and no defects. this is seriously anoying. it just hates anything over 225~230. and both sticks 2x256 in single channel cause the systemn to reboot at total stock settings.

PS confimed brainpower+TCCD took the heat spreader off

its not like i havnt done all this before, i just cant figure it

it was just a guess, just something else to try out. It sounds like your memory controller can't do high dual channel speeds.
