calm down guys, we haven't even started yet
I have to agree that we need to start refraining from wallpaper-like 'logo's'
What we need, and I assume this contest is for, is a LOGO, or isotype as Vryada put it. massive graphics / landscapes / backgrounds / colors / etc... are all unnecessary. (This includes most of what i've put up so far )
We need fresh ideas, basic lines and curves, a little text, all comprising a simple, yet solid LOGO.
I also think we need to leave the circle with the X in it alone. That was someone's original idea, (Twisted's ?) and it's not right that we change a few colors, run it through a filter, throw it on a cool background and call it our logo. Again, this includes some of my posted work in this thread too
A true logo should stand on it's own, without colors, or backgrounds. Think of something that would represent XS as simply as possible, while still being original.
Look at these two examples, Intel and AMD:
Both very simple, yet solid and easy to remember logo's. They stand on their own, no fancy colors or textures needed.
Output your logo with only solid black, and white. No grayscale even. See if it stands up and yells at you: THIS IS XTREMESYSTEMS LOGO!
Once you have accomplished this, there is no problem in fancy-ing it up a bevel, drop shadow, some color ... take a look at this:
Here is nVidia's logo on one of their buildings:
See the basic, simple, solid LOGO in that ? That's the shape we rembember when we think 'nVidia'.
Sorry to get on a rant, but I figured it would be better to state this before the contest than during it. Obviously, I think there are quite a few talented people in this thread who have turned up some very nice work, I'm just trying to get as all pointed in the right direction. Have fun everyone...

nah... just post your logo here... background or what ever
no... yada yada post please
Just keep this thread clean..
no critic or compliment ....
just XS Logo
hmm tictac, your post was pretty much 'yada yada' if i've ever seen one LOL
Isn't this a logo contest ? Not a wallpaper contest ?
lo·go (n.)
1 : A name, symbol, or trademark designed for easy and definite recognition, especially one borne on a single printing plate or piece of type.
Some dictionaries don't even have 'logo' in them, they refer to the parent word, logotype.
logo·type (n.)
1 : a single piece of type or a single plate faced with a term (as the name of a newspaper or a trademark)
2 : an identifying symbol (as for advertising)

When I get home i'll be able to work on some new ones again..
I'll have to rework the colors i've been using, though. I prefer dark colors and XS uses lighter ones.. hmm.. maybe i'll have to work in darn then invert the colors
All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
Maybe its just me but I dont want to see 50 other cool looking ways to make an "X"
Maybe its just me but I dont want to see 50 other cool wallpapers with the name "XtremeSystems.org" slapped on them ...
Hehe fair enough...but my cat is cool
