    Abit AV8 & FX-53 results

I finally got my rig up and runinng tonight, and I couldn't be happier right now. I ended up picking up som PC3700EB, and it seems to be doing great. I'm water-cooling the CPU, and temps are around 36C under load, and the AS5 has only had about 2HRS.

    Here are initial screenies:

Now...how would I go about beginning to OC this thing? It has a default voltage of 1.5v, how far can I expect on the stock vcore? I'd like to get 2.7GHz on water, do you guys think its possible?

It should be easy for you to get 2.7Ghz with water. Your current load temperature looks good too.

Thanks guys, i've been hearing that the Av8 can be a b***h to OC, but I'm hoping I can get a little something out of the chip.

I'm sure I'll have questions, so stay tuned.

BTW: Here is a 3DMark2K1 run I did last night. Didn't turn off or set anything, just loaded and benched. X800XT-PE was at stock clocks

I could use some help here guys.

To try and get the mem bandwidth up, and see what this EB would do...I set the FSB to 240 and dropped the multi to 10. I increased the vdimm to 2.8v, and AGP voltage to 1.65v.

As soon as the XP screen begins to load, the system reboots.

Is this because the RAM can't handle the speeds, or I'm doing something worng? I haven't touched anything else, and the RAM is at "auto"

    What am I doing wrong?

Alright guys, I think this AV8 really sucks at OC'ing.

I got the chip to 215FSB (12X Multi), 1.55v vcore, 1:1 RAM, LDT set to 800MHz. It's pefectly stable here. Mem scores are well over 6K, and CPU scores are way up.

If I try to go to 220FSB though, it fails to boot. I haven't changed the NB or SB voltage, or adjusted anything else. When do i need to adjust these, and what are safe limits?

Thanks guys, I'm really having a hard time OC'ing this chip...but I feel its the board that's holding me back. It's so d**n quirky I could scream.

Try lowering the LDT to 600MHz. Did you lower the CPU multi to like 8X to see if the RAM can run at the speed you want? Also, what's max vcore and vdimm on the board? Leave the AGP volts and video settings stock until you get the CPU dialed in. Turn off fastwrites and all automatic overclocking, CPU throttling, temp auto shutoff, etc...leave memory timings at the rated timings, but set it manually, not auto. Make sure your RAM is set to limit and 2:1, and that you're running 1T and not 2T (unless it gets you a way higher Sandra memory score because of an increased overclock).

Before you tweaked any BIOS settings I hope you loaded failsafe or optimal defaults. It's always best to start with conservative settings.
