AMD already announced its 32-core 64-threaded 2nd generation Ryzen Threadripper processor on Computex 2018, we also learned that this Zen+ architecture 12nm process processor will be called Ryzen Threadripper 2990X. The release date, however, was unknown.

According to website Benchlife, typically well informed, AMD would release the new processors on August 13th with two models, the Ryzen Threadripper 2990X and the Ryzen Threadripper 2950X. The 32-core Ryzen Threadripper would be the 2990X, the Ryen Threadripper 2950X is rumored to be a 24-core unit with 48 threads (crazy stuff btw, try to visualize that in the task manager displaying all these little cores) :-)
