Some basic info for Z87 oc formula & Z87M oc formula here

1.bclk oc : if u want to do run-time bclk overclocking in XP or win7&8 , u "must" install Intel ME driver .

without this driver , it is impossible to change bclk in OS level. here is the download link

    http://picx.xfastest.com/nickshih/as...Driver1372.rar

2.cpu ratio : ME driver is not required , if u want a clean os without any driver , you still can do cpu ratio overclocking.

3.rapid OC software . This is tiny rapid oc software by Asrock . It can be operated by button on Z87 OCF , also hot key by keyboard.

For me chipset driver from Intel make Rapid OC even with BCLK working with hotkeys... dont know if the ME driver is included.

And guys take care - CPUz validator seems to have some problems at the moment:

Even my 24/7 rig shows the ? instead of CPU Tab!
1.64 and 1.65 is the same failure...

We couldn't get the bclock working on a very slim Windows XP SP3. We had to install the ME driver (9.0.10 was okay for us), maybe the .net Framework 3.5 was important too (not sure), but really important was to install the "Formula Drive" software. Otherwise the Rapid OC tool always added +1 MHz to the bclock, without any real changes of the clock. Well, with the "Formula Drive" and a reboot, it was working afterwards. Don't worry if you can't start this software, you can even uninstall it after the reboot. Rapid OC will still work.

Also important are the services: You will need the Intel Clock service and the DCOM process service, they are necessary for bclock too.

If the me driver be installed , thr interval of bclk oc will be like 0.1 each step .

I grabbed a chip last night, but haven't fired the computer up yet. I might grab some DIce today and get a run in to test it out. Can the bios be updated from a flash drive via the UEFI? I'm used to the ROG flash on M5G.

Yes. U can save bios into usb drive . Use instant flash option, then it will auto detect available bios for the mobo u are using

Thanks guys! Updating to 141A right now!

Edit: I forgot to ask! Does the bios update update both of the bios chips? Or do I need to power off, switch bios switch and then flash again?

I'm really loving this bios, and the rapid OC buttons. I've got all the drivers installed, and this board is just rocking right now. Great work on this board, Nick!

for sure it update the rom u using only . u have to switch another rom and flash again

If one of the rom crashed , u can save it back by the security UEFI backup function on another rom .

I'm all prepped. Hopefully I'll be able to grab some DIce tonight. Otherwise, I've got to wait until Monday. Hopefully I've got a nice chip.

    Hey all together...

I have a problem while benching Hynix MFR on LN2 tonight.
Like in post #151 mentioned max on air was around 1710MHz.

I tested with ghetto LN2 RAM pot and temps tested were between -50 and -140?C.
Absolute maximum validation reached is 1748MHz

The most curious thing is, that 1743MHz is 8M and 32M stable.

I tested many things, different BCLK and multipliers, voltages and so on... exact 1745MHz was the end in all combinations.
    Tested voltages:
    VRAM: 1,75 to 2,1V
    VSA: +0,1 to +0,4
    IOD: +0,1 to +0,3
    IOA: +0,1 to +0,3
    PCH1.05: 1.05V to 1.4V
    PCH1.5: 1,4V to 1,6V

Do somebody have an advice for me?
I also tried despaired straight the 4000MHz OC profile with 4200 timing preset from Nick - same wall.

    Thanks a lot!

You guys clock ram like mad... I've got a set of Gskill Pi's which can run the "PSC 2600 Tight 1.85v" preset at 1.825v on air (not 32M stable, but bootable and I accidentally installed my OS with that set), but the highest I got it to run was 2800 on any timing combination.

if u load the preset , should be fine

    1. use cpu ratio x8 , cache ratio x8

    2. use internal graphic

    3. system agent 0,4 , ioa 0.25 , iod 0.3

    4. vcore 1.3 , cache 1.3

    5. pch 1.05 ==> 1.3

    6. pch 1.5 ==> 1.15

    7. internal graphic voltage 1.35

it should be easy to do 3600 at least , unless ur cpu imc has problem.

psc 2800 on air is good enough ,

I guess I'm so used to seeing these crazy fast Hynix and Samsung kits that I forgot the sweet spot for psc is around 2666. Thanks for the reality check, Nick!

Actually u can try to find the setting for maximum bandwidth.

It will be the fastest setting for 32m
