So I changed the 04 0B 28 at 8DCF-8DD1 to 04 32 38
which corresponds to changing 265000 to 275000. I also fixed the checksum at 0000F9FF. In theory I should be ready to flash, right? I figured I'd start with a minimal 10watt boost. I'm kind of chicken with the $1000 board though.

So I went ahead and flashed...it worked perfectly! PrecisionX now lets me go up to 110% and monitoring power I can see it peak at that. I'd guess 285 watts should be safe, so I think I'll go ahead and try that next.
ETA: bumped max power up to 285 watts and it worked fine. PrecisionX let's me go up to 114% now. To go from 265 to 285 just took changing the 04 0B 28 to 04 59 48 and also fixing the checksum of course.

Thanks for being the test pilot, please report back. Maybe toss up some screenshots of precision as well?
Thanks!

PM me your email address and I'll send it to you. I imagine CrazyNutz will have the ability to change max_power added to kgb soon though, along with probably more. CryptiK and CrazyNutz were the ones who got the ball rolling on the mods, I just got interested reading their posts here and decided to cross my fingers and try it. It was fun doing a little modding with the Hex editor again like the old days.
It seems to work fine, although the gain seems fairly modest. I guess going to 285 from 265 is really only about 7.5% more power though, so gains wouldn't be all that great. I'm not sure how high one could push the power without frying something....300 watts maybe? That's still only a 13% power boost relative to 265. Titan really seems a bit crippled by the power available to it.
Like NapalmV5 showed a few posts above, it wouldn't take much of a HW mod to get more power into the board, but how far can things be pushed before frying something?
ETA: I emailed the Titan285 bios to mbreslin and he's posted it at http://www.overclock.net/t/1363440/n...#post_19424227 so that's the best place to get it. (posting the link ok?) I used nvflash_5.127 to flash it.
Also, use at your own risk of course.

VRM should be the limiter not the board power inputs but I'd say (and I asked TiN also) the max VRM capacity and we agree something like 350-425w before something lets go. Max power 300w in bios should be safe(ish) long term and not require the additional plug. Power slider then goes to 120% from my testing.
bmg - good on ya man, i wasn't going to post my mod bios and get an inbox full of 'my card blew up its your fault' lol.

That should be fine, at least it will stop the power limit throttling. I think I know why nvidia have such a low power limit, which makes sense, but its not because the card is about to blow at stock voltage. Its acoustically driven and to have a temp target coupled with a power target they can get very fine granularity over the throttling and acoustic control. You'll notice speed is tied to voltage - same as on the 600 series.

Half of what I'm reading is in Chinese but I can't wait to start messing with my Titan, Hopefully should have one within a week or two (waiting on my refund for my 7950). Although I don't understand some technical aspects, it seems that a bios flash will allow a higher power draw to OC further, is that correct? /excited

not OC further but to OC without hitting the power limit causing throttling back down to lower clocks.

You'd ideally need a mod bios based on your bios, so we really need to do one for each AIC's model(s). We don't know how well cross flashing works except for EVGA vanilla to SC which reportedly does work.
