    Need some mobo+cpu advice please!

    Hey guys,

I have not been up to date with hardware lately so I'm gonna need some help here if you will

today has been a rather sad day, yes i realize its christmas but i managed to fry my Asus Striker ii Extreme..

So.. time for a new board, and with that, a new cpu of course. But i would like some opinions on this one.

Currently looking at this baby right here, seems like a sweet deal don't ya think?

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.777865
    Maximus iv extreme + i7 2600k
im lookin to not go higher than that 615 for a cpu+mobo
    my system is as follows:

    striker ii extreme (fried)
    q6600 water-cooled (useless now)
    corsair dominator 3x2gb
    xfx gtx 280 water-cooled
corsair 850w psu (hope this is enough)
    ssd, 64gb kingston
an all in all water cooling system (of which i should sell these damn brand new striker ii blocks now)

please advice! if you have other motherboards+cpus to recommend please let me know

thanks fellas appreciate the help in advance

I was in the same boat as you. Are you going to use more than two GPUs? or will consider more extreme methods of cooling? If your answer is no, then you prolly don't need that bored. Also, it is important to note that the MIV does not have a revision for PCIe 3.0. Not that will gain much of anything with 3.0 at this current time.

For 1-2 GPUs the 850 PSU should be more than enough. However, Corsair PSUs (beside the AX series) is not that expensive, so it wouldn't hurt to pick up a larger watt PSU if you plan more than 2 GPUs.

Not really sure why you would go with that board? I just don't think it has much to offer over this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131771
