Not done with FX8150//990FXA-UD7 yet ...

... I was hoping to be finished by now, but then suddenly the board worked out how to run memory over DDR3-2500 in 3DMark11 . So, instead of being able to put the board away, I will now need another session to see if I can go up in memory frequency and get the score to scale even more ...

    Previous 3DM11 run: 11.4K physics at 6930/3780/1050
    First 3DM11 run: 11.5K physics at 6720/3520/1067
    Last 3DM11 run: 12.2k physics at 6794/3476/1264

Then the PSU started a nice fireshow and the session could not be continued ...

CPU could boot at 6920 1.86V in OS.

990FXA-UD7 is a really solid board if you work out the tricks. I'm using F5 bios and it's good for me to bench. Some tricks:

    - always check if you have all memory addressed in POST (sometimes 1 dimm, low performance but cpuz says dual channel)
    - stable htt ~ 315MHz; above that it's mostly losing one dimm
    - don't use xtreme LLC, but only highest or high!
    - above 6500mhz, the when saving settings in bios, the screen will freeze. Just press reset yourself and the settings will be applied
    - need 2t for high frequencies.
    - after cmos clear, start at 250HTT and go up in steps (275-300-315); otherwise oc might fail.
    - after hard crash, debug might show 88. On other boards that means CPU dead, but with 990FXA-UD7 it means "shutdown PSU". After complete shutdown of PSU, the system will boot up again perfectly.

Maybe next run with HD7970 and not 580.

    See ya!

Nice going! So these latest runs are done with 2T? I have to try that out now.

Do you feel that F5 feels more stable when benching with all cores?

Atm I'm using UD5 Rev 1.1. Earlier I had UD7 Rev 1.0 and I could not boot with higher voltage than 1.77v. I also noticed what you're saying about that all freezes when changing BIOS. I also had code 88 several times, I didn't know what it was supposed to mean though... LOL

So far UD5 feels very much like the UD7. It misses some extras, but settings and stability feels the same. Hopefully it is soon time to try it with cold.

Yup, 1264 was with 2T. Haven't really started to finetune the memory for high clocks yet; I wonder if it would go over DDR3-2700 stable in 3D.

I'm using F5 since I've been using the BIOS since the beginning and it allows everything to work like I want it to work. It's giving me big overclocks, nice performance, easy oc-restore functionality ... there's simply no reason to change. I'm using the v1.1 too, by the way.

It's that time of year again - just put the system outside and you get 7Ghz on 3DMark11? It used to be a lot harder....

    Any rig shots?

I need better FX-8150 and then I can show you LN2 run 3D11 with GTX570 . Maybe, Il waiting 1-2 months for better process in GF.

lol, there is my (with Froxic cooperate) LN2 system Plate on the top system = inspiration from LHe video

Try physics first ... it's quite interesting trying to optimize it. The subtest is mainly about NB clock and MEM optimisation. I really want to see a physics run with 1400+ memory and good NB .

heh, 1400+ (2800) memory, impossible with my or froxic kits. We tried max about 2400 MHz at RAM (Geil evo two)

It seems high memory frequency is the key that FX can took over Thuban, isn't it?
I don't have even a card to test 3DMark 11. The only one DX11 card I have is GTS450 from the previous CountryCup, lol.

I assure you that 2600+ can be done easy with that EvoTwo and no LN2...

maybe hardly for vlidation ...Froxic tested it and got about 2550 MHz validation with 1.8V or so at RAMs
