tried that, and even went to an image pre installing drivers (i just redid my windows 2 days ago), odiously that dose not say that the driver is up to date it just has nothing there

yes, that SS is on 10.7 trying to update, yes all updates, yes MB and chipset drivers are in. i tried on my admin non super admin and the super admin.

i also tried deleting all of the appdata for ati and the program data so im lost on this one, i have a reference 4890 thats HIS branded but HIS uses the ati ID so i dont see why it would not work unless the installer was broken

Try and download it again, seems like the installer contains an older display driver... Cat 10.8 should contain version 8.762, and your installer is trying to install what seems v8.753 (?)

I had that exact problem with Cats 10.4. Never did figure out what it was doing. By that stage though I was fed up with the continuously deteriorating quality of the ATi drivers and just didn't care.

Problem I had with 10.8 was that the drivers installed OK but CCC didn't.
My solution was to remove all ATI drivers with Driver Cleaner.net, extract the files from the Catalyst install package and install everything manually... Install drivers first using the device manager(not ATI install manager) by browsing to the new driver location:

    C:\ATI\Support\10-8_xp32_dd_ccc_enu\Packages\Drivers\Display\XP_INF

and then one at a time install software components from:

    C:\ATI\support\10-8_xp32_dd_ccc_enu\Packages\Apps

This is on XP32, I would imagine a similar procedure for Win7 variants would work.

Quantum theory in a nutshell: It's so small we don't know where it is, it could be here, it could be there.

Just 'cos it's legal don't make it right.
