when i ever need help with anything i think of this place so here it goes.

I am moving to a bigger house. and i want to change my 24inch dell monitor which just got another dead pixel -_- with a HDTV i would prolly think in the sizes 40-50 but i dont know what to get i tried doing this once and only got a res of 1024x768 with a samsung 720p plasma so i dont want to make that mistake this time.

i really like the natural tones of plasmas and the price aswell

mostly i want my tv to have 1080p.. a resoultion of 1920x1080 or higher
and a comb filter for sure.

i dont know what tv will be best to use as a monitor and its going to most likely be on a desk like about 1.5 meters away from me max. i want to watch movies on it and play games like MW2 and World of Warcraft. i want something that will be a good choice for my computing needs and dont know what tv to pick so please xtreme systems.. help a brotha out.

PS. my budget is about 0-1500.

Well brotha, 1.5 m is ab about 4 feet so 37 is about right. Get too close to a larger screen and you start to see too much. Each size has an optimal viewing distance. Bigger and closer is not always a good thing. At four feet, personally I'd go 37" or at least 32", 40" might be too big. Not to mention 40" 1080P 120 or 240 real 3000 to one that might be something like 50K to 1 Dynamic.

None of the last or newer Gen 1080P TV's suffer from bluring, down sample resolutions and etc.....

For that we should thank BOTH (AMD and Intel) companies!

the thing is i dont want to go as low as 37 cause im a person who loves action movies. chases . and gun fights u know what i mean. im going to hook up my z5500 to my comp and just stream movies and like that and when im watching movies im going to be like 8 meters away roughly. and i dont want to miss anything.. if u can help me pick out a tv. ill sit as far away as im supposed to but i want something that will have no issues what so ever i tried hooking up my net book to a olevia 46inch a friend of mine had the top and bottom are cut off and what not. so if u can help me by looking at the tv's on bestbuy.com and link something that will give me the best bang for my buck and uses. i would say not to expensive cause im on a pretty un flexible budget(parents-_-)

if u can post some tv's from there u think are perfect enough for me. and tell me aproxx the lenght i need to be away from them and what not. ill love you forever.

ps. ive seen a couple tvs that have like a artifcial color enchancement bull . if the tv u guys suggest have it there is a way to turn it off right?

    46 tops.

40 or 42 would do you well. Go with 120hz true if you want to do some gaming on it.

Your net book may be the issue, not the TV.

    Hi, xlazyx.
All the sets you listed are nice. Remember, the grass is always greener on the other side. If you persue specification shopping and ask the same questions repeatedly, the anxiety and frustration may well have a mental China syndrome.

So, let us cut through all the boulderdash, shall we?
The real question here, since you are intending to use this new tv as a pc monitor, is what linkage the pc will connect to the tv. I can tell you right now, based on the selection of sets provided by you, that you should use HDMI. Whatever you video card is, do HDMI<->HDMI or DVI<->HDMI.

Finally, there is no "best." All solution to a problem is based on the circumstances in which the initial problem/question began. Toshiba, the Samsungs, and the Mitsubishi are all fine sets. The question is, which one do you prefer?

Im confused as to why he said he likes the Plasma TVs, and yet we are all looking at LCD screens...

If you like Plasma, and want a great picture for minimum price then look into getting the LG 50PS60. It is the size you want, as well. And I strongly disagree with everyone here on the size thats good for you. If you like action movies and stuff, then 50" from 4ft. away is perfect. I had a 42" plasma as a computer monitor for a while (way back, 1st gen plasma) and I loved it. However I found myself wishing I had got a 50" instead. 50" from 3ft. away will quite literally just barely fill up your entire vision area. So sure you may miss a small little thing at the very corners sometimes, but thats not where the action in a movie is anyway. And even while gaming it really isnt as big of a drawback as the gain you get from being able to fill up your entire vision area with the game screen. Everyone will complain about how you cant use plasma because you will burn the hud or taskbar into the screen but I call BS on them all because I have personally used a 1st gen plasma (the worst burn in ones ever) for months on end without any problems. Im talking 8 hours a day on the computer, with mostly surfing the internet which has a lot of static objects. Yes you do get IMAGE RETENTION with a couple minutes after you are done, but that is not what burn in is and it does go away when the plasma cells have completely lost their charge. And now days you have things like Pixel Shift to help fight burn in.

Take it from someone who has actually done what you were originally asking for help on and get your 50" 1080p plasma screen. You will be 100% glad you did.
If you end up going with an LCD though, that Mitsubishi one looks like the most useful with its outputs.

And FYI, those 100k contrast ration numbers are you listing are dymanic numbers, not static. Keep that in mind when you are looking at the specs on TVs you are thinking about. You cannot compare one TVs static rating to another's dynamic.
