    G.Skill F3-16000CL6D-4GBPIS - CL6 2GHz RAM for your Lynnfield

I thought I'd check what all this G.Skill fuss is about and itself was more than happy to send me a kit...

The kit we're talking about is the F3-16000CL6D-4GBPIS, a 2x2GB 2GHz kit, which at first seems quite ordinary, until you see the latencies which are specified at 6-9-6-24, I thought I'd share approximate overclocking results of this kit with you guys.

First of all, the kit itself:

For the boring stuff, I suppose I'll just refer to our review, but here's what you all are looking after, namely the overclocking results I've gathered. wPrime 1024M was the measure for stability.

Full review, for those who are interested is available in Swedish at NordicHardware but should also become available at our international site soon enough. For those who enjoy a bit of "swenglish", see Google Translate.

Seems like a nice kit, hi freq bin BBSE looks like. You graph by timings but not by voltage? What voltage is used for the above graph?

It says so in the graph if you look closer. It was done with 1.72V, they didn't really scale beyond that. Tested with an i7 870, IMC voltage was 1.45V, which is also found in the graph. (Forgot to add the CPU info though, but it's found in the full review.)

you made the claim they would be a bad replacement for the hypers... p55 is a high speed ram freak... Really man 2000Mhz cas 6 is pretty amasing at 1.65vdimm, not many hypers can do that at higher voltages on air cooling. And it's more than enough speed and headroom available here... I have no clue of the retail price of these, but I already got 2 sets of hypers down the drain with volts always sub 1.7...

you made the claim that these memories can be faster than hypers - i prove you wrong.
these top at 1030 6-9-6, get easily beaten by hyper at 1030 8-8-8 which isn't breaking a sweat
these can run 1100+ 7-10-7, get easily beaten by hyper (heck, or even bbse) at 1100+ 9-9-9

do that run 5 times, get 5 times a different outcome and why compare 1T with 2T ? plus get your glasses on plz, you said that they were a bad replacement due to high trcd, I said that the tighter cas and higher clockspeeds could get the same results... don't turn my words to prove your theory...

I know someone who stated these are hypers, however, I think Frank is off on that one; I see this as PSC....? ;-)
    Anyhow...

I did the compare before Paris... I found that ras to cas vs. cas.....
ras to cas 2 about equals cas....
    example;
6-8-6-18 vs. 7-6-6-18 should be about equal performance..... I tested this on ripjaws btw....

    On Ibex peak btw...

    ----
But please dont take my word for it....
    Do some testing on 32M
BUT BARE ONE THING IN MIND; YOU CANNOT COMPARE RAM LIKE THAT.... The chips has more then just the basic timings... And sorry Leeghoofd, buddy... I have experienced that hypers tend to have slightly tighter all around... Enabling higher performance.... But heck.... Hypers tend to die? Hypers tend to vary alot on quality..? Hypers cost alot more..? I wouldnt call these sticks bad, not at all!!! In fact; I believe the extra mhz will more then add up for it.... but by god you need a strong IMC to max out PSC...

One of the reasons these are best for P55 platform Marc, I kindda like these sticks and performance isn't really far from a normal hyper kit (not your GTX2's :p) at stock volts... It also depends a lot on the platform being tested on. For benchers go Hyper, for daily users these should do more than fine (and are even overkill)... Like I told Gareth O, these sticks aren't limited by the ram IC's but more by NB and IMC's...

I was wondering why you used wprime to test stability, since RAM has had absolutely no effect on the bench and I do not think its very ram intensive. try 32M or something along those lines...?
