Can anyone confirm if Crucial is still using 5B-D on their Z503 sticks?

They are not being made anymore. I'm pretty sure that during production they always used the same IC's.

I found on their site they were selling the sticks for £175 I think it was. Which is why I asked if they'd still be using them. So would it be safe to assume they'd have 5B-D IC's on the RAM they have for sale on their site?

You're talking about the 2*1GB Pc4000 Z503? It's probably just RMA'd RAM that was tested and confirmed working. Z503 always uses the same IC's.Originally Posted by Zedex

Seems a bit iffy if that's the case in purchasing a set then. Is their any other 2GB sets still in production using 5B-D IC's that you know of?
Thanks for the quick replies btw

I'm probably selling my Z503 pretty soon, so if you are interested......

Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them

Will test those zzf ones though.
Someone said they weren't fats but I don't care as long as it OC's well.
Heres hoping things have returned to normal, tho I fear it may not be the case.
ozzimark, whne you say "a touch less" what do you mean ~50MHz or more/less
like 10-15mhz? i really don't know. that's real mhz though, not ddr..

I just bought a pair of these new Ballistix. I can assure they are not the same as the old Z503. They have good potential (270-285) but their latency sucks. I'm running stable now at 2.85V (270x11) 1:1 3-3-3-8-1T Latency = 41.8
From the numbers last night, this is very dissapointing:
New Ballistix 2x1GB (259x11) 1:1 2.85V 3-3-3-8-1T Latency = 43.5
G.Skill HZ 2x1GB (259x11) 1:1 2.6V 3-4-4-8-1T Latency = 42.8
Mushkin Redlines 4x512 (285x10) 5:6 3.3V 2-2-2-5-2T Latency = 43.5
If you notice here the Redlines at only 224MHz but 2T are matching these Ballistix at 259MHz and 1T
(edited: may be an opteron divider problem)

Here some more testing...
Same speed but using 180 divider rather then 166 improved my latency from 41.8ns to 39.8ns... WOW these opterons are quite surprising
Very interesting, at lower voltage you can run Memtes86+ without an error, BUT to run SuperPI you have to raise your voltage in 0.1V. At 270Mhz I need 2.75V. I could use Read Preamble as low as 3.5 and TRFC as 14.

I have no idea what chips are on mine. I have a sticker that says batch CL111QG7X and a second white sticker that says BL12864Z503.16TD. I don't mean to go off topic, but I'm trying to find the best Expert bios to run these. I had them on my LP UT SLI-DR running 280 3-3-3-8 @ 2.7V but on the expert they're sucking wind! I can't get them stable for nutin. any suggestions? I was looking at Merlin's 10.07.06 bios, but wondering if that's more TCCD oriented and would mess up my sticks.
any help is greatly appreciated, and sorry for being off topic.
