You must update with a P4 before installing the Dothan.

    Now for my question.

I will be using a Zalman 7000cu as my HS. After reading, I am to just turn the metal bar that goes into the carriage upside down in to order to get the Zalman to screw on. Does this provide enough pressure to transfer the heat properly?

Again after reading, the height increase in about 1/4". Turning the bars upside down provides almost an 1" of height increase. Is this correct or am I missing something?

    Thanks

Oh manage to boot at 201 x 12 at stock Vcore with the default heatsink.

If it doesn't have a recent enough BIOS to support the Dothan, you need to use a P4 to update the BIOS first.

Also I notice that you've got a good overclock in your AOPEN board. Did you have to do anything special to get it? From what I've read the boards don't have AGP/PCI lock, and from my experience with two, I couldn't get any kind of decent overclock.

that's easy man, went to the bios, disabled the o/b card, then put 5:4 FSBRAM, and 2.5-2-2-5.

then "cpuz" gave me a special version of clockgen that locks the AGP/PCI, so i raised the FSB and save the ratios. (133)

I didn't needed a P4 for my P4P800SE. It had normal P4 bios on it.
I could update the bios with a cheapo Banias. The only thing is that it was recognized as a P4.

it isn't mentioned here yet.. but for p4p800/deluxe (non -E), p4p800-se bios is quite a good solution. check it out here @ abxzone
you'll get multi, voltage control plus all ram dividers se has..
i tried also p4p800-ed bios, but after configuring bios settings and reboot, board was dead and cmos reset didn't help.. lucky i used spare bios chip..

my pm 730 does 2.7ghz max with "inbox" cooler and needs 1.6v for that.
    spi1M/2M/pifast stable.. 2.65 is spi8M stable.
i've done direct vdimm mod and so far have gone so far as 275Mhz..
actually i was testing some bh-5 sticks and 3 of them crapped out at 275Mhz.. 274Mhz was all stable but 276MHz would give pifast errors in exact same spot.
i think i'll need vagp mod..

for the record, my best spi1M score with pm730 @ inbox, 4x256M bh-5

To mount my zalman 7000 I turned the bar in the heatsink upsidedown, turned the p4 mounting bars upsidedown and then screwed motherboard standoffs into the bars, 2 on each side, this provided enough height to allow me to use the original screws. Longer screws will work just as well, but I didn't have any lying around.

Hay caater if you able to do 270+ on ram then why 11x multy? do 10x270 that should shave 1sek off you PI 1M time. Higher FSB= more rambandwide

so that run was done with single stick. i see now Dual chanel will always tacke a hit comparing to single to how high it will scale. Still you can take 1 stick out and get into 25's proabably

I just had the same problem (with the same motherboard). In my case it was not the adapter being pushed upwards, but a missing (sense) pin on the adapter! I wonder how/when that came off.. I haven't forced the thing in at any one time.

Anyway, I cut off a bit of leg from a resistor, dropped it in the mobo's CPU socket pin, slapped on the adapter, and problem gone!

    Ok.. I need some help.

    I'm running an Asus p4p800se 1009Bios (vcore and multi), and a 730 (1.6Ghz 533).

For some reason I am hitting a wall at anythign above 210FSB. I dropped the multi to 11x and 10x, still no luck.

I have ran the memory at 4:5 and 3:4, and it runs fine at 250+ Mhz. I have DDR Booster at 3.4v

I also push teh vcore up to 1.6 and still NOTHING.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can go beyond 210Mhz FSB?

Just to let you know, I have not done any physical mods.

Any insight will greatly be appreciated.

    Locked your pci/agp?
What ram are using? UTT? They don't perform (well) on 865/875 chipset compared to other platforms.
Tried changing your FSB in windows? Also hitting the 210 wall?

I'm using UTT (Twinmos SP). but I have confirmed it does work at 250+ on this mobo / chipset. I put multi at 4:5 and 3:4, which effetively puts its at 250 and 260 at 200FSB, and I'm able to run just them just fine.

So I figure if I do 1:1 at faster then 210, memory will not hold me back.

    I did put the pci/agi at 66/33.

I'm not a big user of windows OC'ing. so please excuse me if I seem stupid about it

Ok.. I downloaded clock gen for the p4p800se.

When I launch it. i move the FSB lever, but the AGP and PCI moves too. Isn't it suppose to be fixed? When I move the FSB from 200 - 210, the AGP moves too.

So please let me know what I can do to make sure AGP / PCI is fixed w/ ClockGen.

    Thanks.

Hello Every Body, New Problems Now About My 750es.
    I Set In Cmos: 208*12=2.49
Then I Enter Winxp, And Use Eist To Drop Multi To 10
And Use Clockgen To Raise Fbs To 250, That Is 2.5g
I Test In Game, It Is Very Stable, But I Found Something Strange:

    1. When I PLAYED Cs:source At 208*12, The Maximum Fps Is 99
But When I Set In Winxp 250*10, The Maximum Fps Is 83, Something
Like That. It Seems That Fps Is Limited And I Do Not KNOW Why.
    2. When I Turned Off The Computer, It Could Not Turn Off The Winxp
Completely, Finally The Screen Became Black But The Power Light
Was Still On. What Is The Problem.
    3. It Is Not Possible For Me To Set In Coms 250*10, It Can Not Pass.

I Am Wondering This Is Caused By The Agp Clock, The Agp Is Not
Locked In This Case? If I Do Not Use Clockgen, The Fps In Game
Is Normal, Once Clockgen Is Used, Fps Came Abnormal.
For Example, If I Use The Clockgen Raise Fbs A Little Bit,
And The Max Fps In Game Drops A Little. If I Raise Much,
    Max Fps Drops Much Too.

Hope Anybody Can Help Me Out.

I think that if you boot at 201 with AGP/PCI set manually in the BIOS to 66/33, then Clockgen should keep it locked. That's what worked for me.

    hmsrolst,

    I'll give booting at 12x w/ 201FSB, and setting AGP/PCI to 66/33.

    I believe when I set the AGP/PCI to 66/33 I was either booting at 200 or 210.

Hopefully booting at 201FSB w/ AGP/PCI set to 66/33 will keep it locked.

Well. testing won't happen till monday though :P

The AGP clock might really be the case here, if you've got an ATI card that is (no problem like this with NVIDIA I've heard and also experienced). Try booting at exactly 200*12 and the clock should work.

Might relate to the problem I'm about to explain in the next answer, not sure.
    3. It Is Not Possible For Me To Set In Coms 250*10, It Can Not Pass.
There's this problem with changing multi in BIOS. It seems that the BIOS sets the FSB first and the multi a bit later. So in your case the system should be able to run at 250*(whatever your stock multi is) for a while and just then it changes it to 10. Now, 250 times the stock multi is a long shot with any PM, so I really hope there will be a solution for this in the near future (please someone inform me if there already is).

    I'm having a problem!

My Epox 8RDA crapped out on me 2 days ago, and I decided to use it as an excuse to upgrade. After surfing this forum for a while I decided that I was going to try the Pentium M. I received a brand new set yesterday with an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe, Asus CT-479 adapter and a Pentium M 730.

My motherboard came with bios version 19, so I went out and bought a cheap Celeron that I used to flash the board to the beta bios. I then changed to the Pentium M (installed with a Zalman 7700CU) and pressed the button all excited... but nothing happened. Power comes on, hdd starts up, fans are spinning and so on but it never starts booting. As if no CPU is present. I have now also tried with bios version 23, but it is the same problem.

Did I run into a non working CPU or adapter, or is there something else I can try? I'm not sure how to test if they are working.

Forgot to plug the powerconnector of the adapter?
Or didn't closed the lock of the socket with a screwdriver ?
