I have been following this thread, hoping that some of the guys that have succesfully voltmodded their X800XL would make some sort of guide. Take some pictures of how how they did it.

I have seen this page http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...g/voltmods/112
but drawing with a 2B pencil to make a bridge on the VGPU and drawing directly on the resistor of the IGPU havent raised the voltage. I measured the voltage at the point they have shown, and it has been 1,408-1,41 before and after I tried to draw.

Am I doing the correct thing? Any help would be good.

I think a "format c:" (and a new os installation) can improve your bench

I use only a tweaked reserved partition with XP Lite for benchmarks and games

    Pencil mods suck...
Do the solder mod. I used a 10K VR, pre-set at 10k one leg of VR to one yellow dot and another leg of VR to the other yellow dot, e-z as pie.

@JayN22 - The pencil mod works just fine - connect the two soldering points on the PCB - and not the resistor nearby, as it was shown on the original picture @TechPowerup. Charlie has the proper pic

Hey , I noticed my stock 2k5 was right on par with reviews , just not my 2k3 . I noticed I dont have the latest 2k3 version ! I'm gonna reinstall cats and apply the 3.6.0 patch to 2k3 to see if it makes a difference

Has anyone else flashed a 800XL to 850 BIOS ?

Take a look here , not sure about the validity of it but might be of some interest.

Uhm very interesting... but I have one doubt: I know that the limits of X800XL in oc are low voltage and production process @ 0.11 infact it's hard to reach 450/550 with dissy stock and default voltage. And these are hardware limits not software/bios limitations... true?

Why would 0.11 production process limit voltage? On the contrary, it should make it easier to overclock, and in fact explains the need for less voltage.

Oh that's WinXP with ACPI multiprocessor tweak, 3000+ @ 9x300, 1:1 2.5-3-3, X800Xl with sliders set to highest performance, winxp set to "performace" in system settings inside CP, realtime at 440/560...
nothing special really...actually the same HDD that was used with my FX55 on LN2 a few weeks back, no re-format.
    Room temp, Hyper6, AS5....
nothing really exotic. the 13.5k is much nicer

Oh and extensive Jedi mind tricks,

I'm gonna grab ONE when i got my A64
    hehe
    Very nice card DUDE.
I will take out my Hyper6 from my current P4, try to get a better 80mm fan and put it back to A64 rig. That's would be nice hehe
one question. Charlie, your Hyper6 can fit the DFI NF4 ULTRA D? I saw people can fit the Hyper6+ to DFI NF4 SLI-DR.

Yeah i agree the 13.5k is outstanding ! The thing is I reformatted and installed a fresh XP . Cats 5.2 and clocked it to 440/560 and i only got 11.6k...i was at 245x10 3-3-3-10 with 2x256 OCZ EB PC3500 and no tweaks . I think 03 is not so CPU dependent that it would make a 900pts difference from your computer to mine :s

I blamed my old install because it had many drivers on and I hadnt reformatted in about 4 months. Now i see that it wasn't the problem .... I'll try your tweaks see if it makes any difference

Before I reformated , I ran at 454/589 and this is what i got http://199.202.73.113/mb/0365578/2k3_11795.JPG

Well let me help you out here...

Did you remember to disable your internet connection? Did you disable AUDIO, SATA and USB/1394 features?
Did you do the Control Panel Performance tweak? Hmmm...those timings really ARE bad, though... also try 4.12 (the 6497's) and disable VPU recover....hmmm... I'll think of more tips!

If i answered "No" to ALL of those questions , does that make me a noob bencher ? I guess I gotta get to work !

Thank you very much for the tips , hope you can think of some more ( some might seem obvious to you , but I might not know them )

    EDIT :

About the timings , I might be able to run 3-2-2-x , I just havent had a blank CD on hand to try memtest ...I hate loading it from a floppy ..way too slow for my taste . So I kept it safe at 3-3-3-x , since after all ..this is 03 , I would believe it would after 01 way more than 03...right ?

one of the little "feet" on the hyper6 black plastc reention cage that mounts to the MB hits some SMD components, if you grind away 75%, exactly 3/4 of the circle, it will clear the components and work FINE

    Using ACPI tweak
Disabled Audio , but not SATA or USB since I need them ...well SATA at least

hmmm... how about the LAN, make sure you disable it.
There's something up.... you should be doing 500+/600 with water and Vmod... should be good for 13.5k.
I'll keep thinking about it, I'm sure there's something I do as a matter of course that I'm just not thinking of right away.

I disabled LAN and it gave me 8 pts more

    EDIT :

Tight timings with A64 Tweaker , LAN disabled and all previous settings

WoW , i'm out of ideas

EDIT : How much are you getting at stock (GPU ) in 03 and 05 , at 24/7 settings Charlie ?

And what drivers have you installed for the DFi ? What BIOS ( Mobo and GPU ) are you using ?

    Does 1gb vs 512mb make a big difference in '03 ?

    So many questions ...
