The design of the heatsinks looks way better than on CHIV imho.
Plenty of power connectors on that board.
Does anyone know what "thunderbolt" is?

Im pretty sure its the Bigfoot Killer NIC not an Intel one.

overall this board looks pretty good. But I just HATE how they chopped off the first expansion slot. If they would have done what Gigabyte did they could have done quad crossfire/4 way SLI, also the location of the extra molex power is pretty bad. It would have been nicer at the bottom of the board like one of the ones on the MIVE. Also it would have been nice to see the extra 4pin power connector moved to the same location as the 8PIN.

the fully isolated CPU however is TOTAL WIN. that looks really really nice.

I also noticed only the 3 Banks of USB 3.0 (2 pairs on the back and one for front panel) it would have been nice to see them all go USB 3.0 like on the MIVE.

Don't get me wrong this is a really nice board and would be my 1st choice in a BD system but overall it just seems like its a tiny step down compared to the 1155 Intel Boards. Same thing goes with the Gigabyte UD7. they are both really nice but a few things seem to be overlooked or missing.

oh thats a given. But the Formula's have always been slightly cheaper and lower end than the Extreme's so im not sure they will solve my issues with the board...

still a great board overall though.

how long have those extra 4pin connectors used? is it optional if you dont use the 8pin? and why does it also need a molex connector on top of everything else?

The 4 pin 12V EPS connector (CPU power) is for use when extreme overclocking. The 4 pin molex can help when pushing multiple video cards.

    This is the formula

Looks nice though, but the placement of that x1 slot for their sound card is moronic.

    +

    =

    8 + 4 + 4

Worst thing, I almost do it, got one lying around in work and nothing else decent at hand and need to test something, it got me so piss of that it didn't come 4+4 each connector that I almost saw one in half, I ended using 3 generic PSUs (rated 500W ) from chinese generic cases to test the parts requesting RMA, don't ask why I have to this things, it has no logical explanation.

When will manufacturers realise that the Bigfoot NIC sucks. They need to drop that crap already.

Those PSUs that have dual EPS +12v 8p will consist of a 4+4 and a full 8.
So you will be using a 8 + one of the 4+4 during extreme OC cos you'll be running into 400+w

So does creative audio and that hasn't gone away. It's a ROG board, it has gamers in it. That means having gamer stuff, regardless of how good it is, is a top priority to sell it to idiots, aka gamers.

If the price premium isn't that high who cares? Nothing is stopping you from slapping an $30 intel nic onto it and calling it a day. And the ASUS soundcards are pretty good.

In my ideal world someone would sell me a mobo with an intel nic, c-media sound processor, and toss in a half decent raid card. But pigs will fly before that happens.

The creative onboard used on Gigabytes recent G1 Assassin is nothing short of fantastic. But for the rest of the points I agree. Except I don't think this is going to be priced all that decently compared to Formula boards in the past. Just look at how much more the R3EBE is compared to the non black edition.
