Rampage II Gene : less Vpll than 1.8V possible

    hiya lot,
any Chance that we (or in this case I) can get hands on a new bios für the R2Gene ? Problem is that I´m running a 970 gulftown but cant enter lower voltages for Vpll than 1.8Volts. Seen enough guys running 980x oder 990x on r3E or R3F with vpll at 1.4 to 1.5
Is this a hardwired problem on the Rampage 2 Gene or a "simple" bios problem ?

My question though is, how am I supposed to get my C300 working on the Marvell controller in ACHI? From everything that I've read here and elsewhere, ASUS is now 8 months behind their competition in updating the Marvell firmware. While getting the Intel issue is well and good, I want ALL the issues addressed. Not directed at you of course, just venting. I've had my computer just sitting on the floor "mostly" assembled for like 3 weeks now.

Awesome!!! I'd love to get my hands on that BIOS! Did they provide you with a list of changes? I'm hoping for some other improvements than just the updated Option ROM. Perhaps they rushed out 1207 for the R3E so that ethusiasts like us could have the fixes below ASAP:
    Rampage III Extreme 1207 BIOS
    1. Improved DRAM compatibility
    2. Fixed S3 resume fail when USB 3.0 controller was disabled
    3. Fix incorrect CPU temperature may display in BIOS setup menu when the temperature is under 0 degree
    4. Support GPU tweakit function

From what I've read, people here have updated the Marvell BIOS using tools like mmtool. I haven't tried it personally because I don't use the Marvel controller. The main issue was the Intel Option ROM, it was in a smaller package than what was available for the newer revision and thus could not "fit" in the Asus BIOS. I know you shouldn't have to do this, but at least they fixed the part that we couldn't!

FYI, there is also an updated R2G BIOS. Not that they have made many changes:
    Rampage II Gene 1501 BIOS
Fix sometimes system may suddently power on if AC Power on then off for several times

Correct. MrToad tried and failed with updating the Marvell BIOS. Failed as in didn't work correctly, not as in an evaluation of his skill.

Well, I did succeed in updating the Marvell firmware and option ROM, just not to the very latest one available.

No one is explicitly asked me NOT to share the beta BIOS so I can make an edited version with the latest Marvell firmware and option ROM that worked for me if you guys are interested...

Hell yes! It's worth a shot... Were you successful in updating the Marvell FW to a newer version then what I displayed above?

It's a shame though that we're left to making our own BIOS and supporting ourselves. Thank you ASUS, you made sure I'll never buy another product from you.

Yeah, me too. It would be great to have some more vendor input in any of their own initiated threads

Man I'm anxious to try the BIOS. Where did you get out from? Can I call somewhere and request it? I can edit it myself

Any chance I can get a copy of their unedited beta for R3G? I'm not really interested in the marvel controller.

I have a P7P55D-E PRO motherboard and a Sata 3 add on card. The add on card (Marvell 9123)had a firmware update available so I ran it. When it flashed the add on card it asked to also update the onboard controller. Not knowing any better I let it. Ever since my onboard Sata 3 controller is no longer found by the BIOS or Windows.

Is there any way to force the on board controller to reset/clear itself?

    Thanks!

Have you tried a reset and flashing the boards BIOS?
