Intel RST 10 Series Driver released!!

    http://www.station-drivers.com/page/intel%20raid.htm

My boot time and shut downs are much quicker. It is obvious.

I am running some tests with these 10 series drivers and they seemed to have restored my Raid 0 Vertex 2 setup to above what my max speed was when I first bought my two Vertex 2's. ATTO also confirmed this. I was getting 490 reads and 470 writes on my vertex 2 Raid setup the other day with ATTO. After installing these I am getting this...

I have had this Raid setup running for 2-3 months. Never have done a HD erase or anything to set it back to full speed. Been running these with my OS on it and it would be safe to say that they slowed down. But these drivers obviously did something to push the speed back to the max of what they are capable. Is trim activated.. or just some more optimizations?

These were my benchmarks when I first setup the Raid 0.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=255709

You will notice my reads are at the Theoretical tops, while my writes are at what my best reads were when I set these up new. I know that ATTO is a marketing benchmark but what should be catching some attention is that the performance went up on these with a driver update and they are in a 3 month old state. I could never get this high with the previous drivers no matter what did. I have not HD Erased these ever. I need to get some old benchmarks back on the computer. Be back.

No Word of a Lie... I averaged 16-17 seconds boot time with my Test system and now get 13, 13, 12, 12 in 4 shots so you may have a point here!

Ok I can confirm... This driver is rebuilding original speed. I ran pcmark05 and scored 51845 pts for the first run... Waited an hour or so and ran again and it scored 57809. Third run pulled 66547. So something in this driver is restoring speed...

Here is the reason for the faster boot time and windows is much more responsive...

You can see the 4k read... I use to get barely 21-22MBs like many review sites reflect also.. Now it is hitting almost 28MB.. That is a big percent increase for 4k reads and the highest i have seen. Almost 30% increase in 4k reads. And the speed is increasing.

+1 to the Crazyness!! Something is restoring performance. I have never secure Erased them and they are getting almost to new performance.. I will let them sit over night and run something tomorrow..

I've been using that driver for a while now and I can't say I've noticed any difference; benchmarks or real life. Then again I'm only using a single drive.

Not sure what extra I can get out of a single c300 64GB with this driver, anybody has tried it yet?

Do I have to disconnect my HDDs before installing this?

I have the same SSD and pretty much nothing. I got 2-3 seconds better boot and that was it but others state that they did not get that at all...

I just went to device manager and did update driver and point it to the folder with the updated driver...

Just an update on the performance.. It seems to have definitely increased my 4k read speeds(which explains the boot speed increase).. I am still playing with tests to see what kind of recovery it is having.. For example it seems to be slowing its ability to recover any more until I write and delete a big file over to the RAID 0 setup. I think it recovered all it could on its own but now doesnt know what is old and what is current on the drives. Maybe because I never did a Secure Erase. I am thinking a Secure Erase and then this driver would keep it at best performance.

If trim is working it will take some time for all the cells to get written to and deleted so that it can update its compressed scratch file for me. Then if trim is working it should be performing optimally. I should just do a secure erase. But then I wouldnt have seen the performance recovery.

By the way here is another update of ATTO after all the PCMArk05 runs I have been doing since yesterday and today.

Pay attention to the writes.. They are increasing and topping out higher. This is not normal behavior for vertex 2's. Everyone knows they go down more as you use them more not up. I have definitely been stressing these since yesterday. Also look at the reads compared to the previous ATTO I ran. Isnt 585 area above the theoretical limit for 2 vertex 2's. 285 x 2 is 570MBs. Seems this driver is for RAID users and brings faster 4k reads for single and RAID as well.

P.S. Actually the writes look much more level compared to the first ATTO.

Numerous posts over tons of sites all indications to me are something is going on here. either trim is active, or there are serious improvements with this revision that are far above any others...
i was watching the next-gen sas/raid presentation from IDF yesterday, and i will tell you that is an eyeopener. i would not be suprised if trim is implemented.

Well the iastor.sys file itself is a lot leaner ....

It is now 350kb, down from 423kb...

Only tested this on an ancient XP x32 build so far and boot time is about the same (this build I have somehow kept alive for 4 years so boot time is craptastic compared to a clean install ) but the system definitely does feel snappier in use

I still can't find any official release notes but I found this on a forum:

    New feats of RST 10.0:
    - Optical Disk Drive (ODD) Video Read-ahead (VRA) - REMOVED later due to problems with certain BluRay protections
    - Zero Power ODD – Power-off Unused Optical Disk Drives (ODD)
    - Email Alert and Notification
    - RAID Volume Cache Size Increased to 16 MB of System Memory
    - SATA Link Power Management (LPM) Support on Desktop

wow nice find A01! 16mb of sysram is actually HUGE when you are considering the DDR3 setting on that bus, the transfer speeds are ridiculous!
there will be some very impressive screenshots off of ICH10R when the correct people see this

hmm this is slightly sucky part about the driver

eh now i am totally limited at 4.4ghz
my previous 4.5ghz 2150 is not as stable as it used to be. must be i am way over the read now..

    16mb cache confirm working

will to fix that and get 4.6 2200mhz CL8..
lets see whether we can go further than anyone has gone before with ich10r lol
