    13-530

I have been on a break from hardware and overclocking for a while, but picked up an i3-530 today to play with. Using the Gigabyte P55A UD6, Corsair H50, 2x1gb HyperX, XP Pro 32bit.

    Thanks radaja.

I've been having an issue with this CPU in the past, couldn't get it above 4.2GHz. For some reason today, I felt like seeing if I could do any better. Keyed in some numbers into the BIOS, tested for stability, and was able to finally get somewhere.

Great OC Major. You have very nice temps, may I ask what kind of water cooling are you using?

That's very nice for such an inexpensive chip! Great vCore, too!
Did XP 32 bit make much of a difference, what do you think?

Congrats! I'm sure you can get it higher than that judging by your vCore!

I'll bite at your submission, though. Just 2.5GB of RAM used by LinX when you have 6GB installed? Are you using a 32bit OS?

No I saw someone's screenshot that used it so I thought that's what we was using for this thread. I can always pull a stick and rerun it lol. I actually use my pc so just sitting to watch LinX run for hours on end just isn't something I plan or want to do.

    Thanks.
I havent tried this chip in W7 yet, just got it yesterday. I'm sure with 4gb of ram and a 64bit OS it will take a little more juice but I am pleased with it.

You can easily use 3300-3500MB for LinX even if you have only 4GB installed as long as you're using a 64 bit OS.

@00011011: Maybe a screenshot of all your voltages, (assuming asus has some app that will show this) if not you could simply tell me them?

Also that's quite a computer for no gaming. What sort of work/hobby do you do with it? (if you don't mind)

That's actually a minor increase of vCore to gain 100MHz. Waiting for 4.7!

Cool! Finally got my watercooling system in check....Swiftech Apogee XT Ultra Extreme is awesome!

    Intel I7 980X Batch 3003B475
I just noticed this when someone pm'd me in the forum and asked me about my QPI voltage. When I had my 920 c0 then 920 D0 my QPI was 1.50v(on Air), but since I watercooled my system and the QPI/RAM controller on the R2E it dropped down to 1.20v(Lowest on this board)! Thats 12Gig at 1866 at cas 8. Although I've never had a problem running 12 Gig stable with this board(Been running it over a year now), Its an oversight that I never noticed till now. Enzotech's QPI/Dram Waterblock makes a big difference. Hope this helps someone. fyi.

I will work on that this weekend.

I picked up another 920 a while back for 179.00 at MicroCenter. Finally got around to installing it. I think I can get vcore below 1.4v with a little tweaking.

I'm not quite there yet, (Max memory stable that is) but getting closer. Since I don't have much of a clue yet with overclocking this high, I just plugged in a bunch of numbers and went for it. I'm going to try again tomorrow.
