I'd say, if it's in the budget, 5870 now, and add another when the prices drop a bit.

Yeah, gotta agree with these guys too.

The 5850 bang for the buck is way better than the 5870.

Take a long hard loot at teh 58xx overclocking thread and decide from there.

In retrospect, although happy I have the best of the best ATM, I would very likely have gotten a pair of 50's instead of my 70's. $200 in pocket would have been nice.

I am more than impressed with my single 5850, system in sig.

@830/1100. Card will clock higher but I don't see the point with a c2d@3.2Ghz and a 1680x1050 display.

Go 5850 you will not regret it unless you have to have the absolute fastest of course. 5870's over clock too.

Sell your Hd4890 and get an Hd5850 or Hd5870Crossfire has got some problems. For example;microstuttering, some of games doesn't support crossfire...Therefore I recommend single cardAlso Hd5xxx support Dx11.

I would say get another 4890 for dirt cheap and enjoy increased performance until Fermi hits the markets and ATI adjusts the prices accordingly. After the dust settles, you can go with whichever you like the best (Fermi or 58xx). I am not an NVidia fanboy but I think it is crazy to invest to a 58XX when NVdia next gen is this close. You are too late for an early adopter who has been enjoying the newest technology for the last couple of months now.
