    MM Ascension measurements needed

since MM takes so long to respond to me i figured i would ask people who own one already.

i need to know if the Ascension is 24" tall on the inside or outside.

my reason is, the rads i have are 24" long exactly and i need to know if they will fit inside the case before paying $40 for custom paneling.

    thanks in advance

I just measured my UFO . Unfortunately it is 18 x 18 x18 on the outside . The inside is 17 11/16 by 17 11/16 x 17 11/16 tall. For me the 5/16 loss in width and heigth are not a prob . But the loss in depth has me remaking the rad shrouds for the triple 120 rad on the mobo side .
I do not think that MM measures the Asension any differently as they state it is 18 x18 x 24

One way around the heigth issue would be to cut a rectangular hole in the bottom of the case for the lower rad tank to fit through . You would have to give MM the exact dimension to the center of the lower fan mount holes from the bottom of the case so they could position the rad in the front panel properly . Could be a fix ?

    good idea.

yes, its going to be a very tight fit and i would like to fit both of my 560's in the case but it may require a lot of work.

Man it would be very cool to get both those rads in the case . How tall is the lower tank on the rads ? The biggest issue would be getting MM to put the fan holes in the right place . Tracing out and cutting the holes in the case bottom would not be that big of a prob .
    Best of luck .......j
Sitting here looking at my UFO . Another option would be if you have access to a local machine shop . You could have a 18 x 18 x 1/2 or 3/8 inch spacer cut out of plate with a 16 x 15 1/2 inch hole in it to space up the top panel . ( measurements are approximate ) .

heres the official measurements. probably better than anything i could measure up :p

    http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/sidewinderco...s_2065_9425848

a good friend of mine owns a machine shop so making the cuts is no big task.

the case i am getting is this one... http://www.mountainmods.com/mountain...ies-p-531.html

i plan to mount a 560gtx in the front left and another in the right rear.

i would put a 3rd rad, 280gtx under the 5.25" bays but i think thats overkill on the overkill haha!

i dont want the 5x 5.25" bay, i would rather have the 3x.

i would also like to get the 10 pci mobo tray

Until I got a cheap deal on some radiators (external box now in the works w/ 3 swiftechs) I was planning on dual 560's for my next build using a mountain mods case-would love to see pics. I had wanted a custom cutout for the 560 on the front panel and was going to put the extra length of the rad up into a pedestal.

btw my extended ascension is 24x24x18 on the outside.

i drew up a rough idea of front and rear design.

front is on the right and rear on the right...

    http://img.techpowerup.org/090822/Capture402.jpg

560gtx in the front and room for a 280gtx,
560gtx in the rear with a 10pci mobo tray.

    what you guys think?

i know i'll have to cut the bottom of the case to allow for the bottom tank to have clearance but i think it will work.

im going to put my i7 rig with full cover board, cpu, 2x295s(for now until gt300 comes out) and possibly more.

probably go with a frozen Q res eventually too.

You'd be interested in this information I got back when I e-mailed and asked MMs about fitting a 560GTX rad in an Ascension case:

It sounds possible. The distance from floor to case ceiling (interior) is 23.87 inches.

So it is extremely tight – no room for error.

You could not put the radiator against the case wall however – it will need to have fans on the case wall in order to push it beyond the front or back panel flange where the distance is only 23.2 inches. You would also need to make sure the top panel is solid, as the acrylic would reduce the distance by 1/8th inch.
This is based on HWLabs' published measurement of the 560GTX of 605mm which is ~23.818897638 inches

And by solid, I clarified with them that it meant you couldn't use a top panel that is a window cutout in it unless the window panel is mounted to the outside of the case panel.

They quoted me $40 for a front panel that would be able to do this like you drew.

    thank you sir.

this is the model i will be getting.. http://www.mountainmods.com/mountain...ies-p-531.html

im going for the 10pci slot mobo tray, smoked acrylic, and have it cut for 2x 560gtx's and 1x 280gtx under the 3x5.25" bay's as i drew.

    im planning on this configuration....

    case|fan|rad

im using the delta ffb1424shg's in my sig as i have 10 of them along with 2 meanwell psu's to power 5 on each psu since they draw so much power. they will put the rad about ~38mm away from the inside of the case.

i'll be using an iwaki rd 30 to keep the water flowing but i haven't decided on a res yet.
