stevero did u see the link that i post u?
oh boyhere we go. I got win7 installed in record time. I get into windows and start shutting crap off like uac and set drives to never turn off, disabled indexing etc. As im about to install my chipset drivers and set up my lan the sucker reboots then after post there is no more LSI raid splash screen just says insert proper disk media etc reboot.. I shut down. reach my hand in the case and wiggle the card around to make sure its not wet from my h20 or something.. its dry and feels like its in there. I restart post fine then I get the following message:
Heres my settings I saved in the raid utility before I installed os:
when I installed the card I just removed the plastic plug from the sas header on the card and plugged in the sas / sata. ran sata cables plug 0 and 1 to my ssds and the sata power dongles frm my psu to the ssds. Im going to go back and start fresh and follow the guide step by step.

well you shouldn't be able to wiggle the card around. it should be secured firmlyyou experienced some sort of issue that made you lose power. that is the card informing you of the event. all you have to do is move forward.
breathe in through your nose...then out through your mouth.
i see you have the operating system on there. now install the mega raid control manager. i posted i the other thread. sorry had life to attend to.careful with your pcie lane overclock. sometimes the card does not like it and will shut itself off. until you get an operating system on there that is functioning normally you need to be at stock settings. once you have an operating system setup that you like, then you can image it onto another drive if you would like. then you can start playing with your motherboard settings such as pcie speed etc. no matter what board you have our hardware is going to operate differently. you have to learn what your specific configuration can handle. before you begin playing get it stock and running well. i image to another drive in case something happens. however, and i hate to jinx it, i have never lost an array on a lsi card. i had big probs with that and the arecas if there were messed up bsods or otherwhile overclocking. so proceed with caution. this isnt something that you should just run into full steam, like i tend too!! you may not need to do the excessive amount of tweaking that i and others do with these cards, as you are only running two devices it should be relatively straightforward. the stuff i do to my setup is to attempt to get super performance, and some things only give a marginal gain in performance. it may not be worth it to you to get one percent more performance.

no its just that there is so much weight on the back of my case with the gtx480 rad that sometimes the pci io gets warped and even if you secure the cards too tight they pull out of the slots partially. I think I was just guessing when I was in the raid setup. you really need to follow the pdf step by step. I went back and started from scratch. installing os now. In the meantime while all that was going on I managed to build a new computer.

Good morning Tilt,
I looked at your results, hard to compare yours with turds and mine because you are using a different proc and chip set.
Even so you are showing some good HDD scores - particularly in the HDD windows media center test.
Is this with the 9211 using the 20270 driver and your 7 (or 8?) x25m's?
ok after 18 hours of configuring and benching and installing triming and and and... the best results that i took from the LSI 9211 was... 350Mb/s at 4k seq. and 299Mb/s in random with a 7 array. i dont know what to do next.. im waiting for ideas until my new parts come here then.. we will start benching in a brand new 5520 chipset. a 72 lane motherboard with 100% compatibility in software and in hardware. keep advising because my brain stopped.
that result was live to computurd with 2.0.8.0 drivers and 7 HDD array (x25m G1 and G2). can u do me a favor stevero?? can u put the 9 lines in that xls of yours and mines so to make some grafs????
my rig is q9550 stock with 4GB ram with a rampage extreme. no overclocking at all.
Now Results with some tunes on the controller (9211i8 with 7 x intels)

Ok so here is Pcmark vantage HDD test for the LSI 9211-8i, Areca 1231ML-2G, LSI 9260-8i and intel ich10R (onboard raid).
The i7-965 and memory were set to 4.35 (132x33) and 1848 (8-8-8) woth pcie clock at 101.
The arrays used and (rather surpising) results for each test are as follows –
Ich10R – 6x acard 9010 R0 – 66175 pnts
9211-8i – 8xacardR0 – 60108
1231ML-2G – 8xacardR0 – 56210
9260-8i – 8xacardR0 – 47428
Ich10R – 1x Mtron Mobi 3000 (boot drive) – 12022.
Surprising that ich10 does so well – there might be something to that low latency argument.
For only 233 bucks – the 9211 beats both the 1231 and the 9260 in this test.
As you would hope, this test is very sensitive to storage capabilities - compare the single mtron mobi results to the others.
At some point I want to test s/w raid of some of the above combinations – an ich10R and the 9211 combination might score well.
Screen captures to follow, next up – pcmark vantage “pcmark suite” results.

Looks like the 9211i8 is not the controller to beat WR in pcmark with. But hey! It is a good cheap controller for all you're 4k needs

So, the 9211-8i is ideal so long you provide it with the correct number of drives? What about the original Vertex's, I already have four of the 30's, if I grab myself a few more would the 9211 be a smarter purchase over the 9260-4i? Thanks for any insight into this question
