No, your just down playing the issue. Furmark, while not a realistic program, is still a program. It is a program which can be run. This software program can make the gpu not work the way it is advertised. That is not acceptable. No software should be able to damage or prevent something working as advertised even at stock speeds. Furmark throttles it at stock. Is that acceptable? It's not the softwares fault for putting strenuous demands on the hardware, it's the hardwares fault for diminishing its capacity to run stably with these demands. If software never pushed hardware, we'd never advance. Is that ok with you to? What happens if a game comes out, that actually DOES throttle it? Is that not a normal program? Are you just stating Furmark isn't a legit program?
It is an issue. Just because it doesn't affect you doesn't lessen it.
I like AMD products more than Nvidia. The quality to me just seems to be higher and my nvidia card which isn't a year old is already starting to die. The fact I like them more than Nvidia, doesn't change the fact I apply criticism where its due. The fact is AMD/ATI was and is negligent in properly cooling the VRMs does not make us 'haters'. My last 4870 died because of the VRMs over heating. This is not a software issue, it's a hardware issue.
