I wonder why the 4870 was beating the 4890 in 2 out of 3 settings in Dawn of War II

Anyway, seems like a very decent card, albeit not jawdropping. Fairly nice temperatures and power figures, at least.
    Main Rig: Phenom II X6 1055T 95W @3562 (285x12.5) MHz, Corsair XMS2 DDR2 (2x2GB), Gigabyte HD7970 OC (1000 MHz) 3GB, ASUS M3A78-EM,
    Corsair F60 60 GB SSD + various HDDs, Corsair HX650 (3.3V/20A, 5V/20A, 12V/54A), Antec P180 Mini

    Notebook: HP ProBook 6465b w/ A6-3410MX and 8GB DDR3 1600

Anyone have a DL link for this 'RC9' driver they were using?

These results are rather weird. The 4870 beats the 4890 at some settings, which simply isn't possible if they did the tests properly and repeated them a few times to compensate for variance
Seems we made our greatest error when we named it at the start
for though we called it "Human Nature" - it was cancer of the heart

Yeah, it looks more like a quick user benchmark rather than a full review.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Ouch, the HD4850 with 512mb suffers a lot.

1gb seems to be the minimum nowadays.
And it would have been interesting to see how the same card with 1gb compares to the HD4870, but most likely it would have been a difference similar to that between HD4870 and HD4980...

Well folks, here you have it. HD 5770 and HD 5750 tested, stock and O/C.
    Ah....and 2 x HD 5770 tested. And what do you know... 3 x HD 5770 tested.
All this in an epic battle, with HD 5870, HD 4890, GTX 260 and GTS 250 as
companions. And, for the extreme guys out there, a few words about
volt-modding the HD 5770 and the HD 5750 (and I mean volt-modding, not
    that "software" ladies stuff )

The HD5770 numbers look a little disappointing, but I don't think people should've expected these cards to [edit out: really compete with] actually beat the HD4890.
They have the same number of SPs at 61% of the memory bandwidth. It very good performance for it's specs.
My personal opinion is that it's an awesome card, the only thing it needs changed is the target price. I think $130-140 MSRP would fit it much better.

RC9? Those aren't even available from the ATI site the reviewers get our drivers from. I don't even think they exist.

Usually an ATI driver will go for WHQL certification at the RC8 release from what I am told.

anyone else thinks ATI missed a beat here with 5770? they could have had slam dunk "mainstream" card and they f'ed it up with their 128 bit bus. welll not very unlike the 5800 series which should have performed much better with wider bus

I hear RC10's are the ones that "perform the best"

Really? Interesting. One way or another, I have never seen an RC8+ driver being made readily available for the launch of a card.

I think the price is too high. The HD5770 should be around $140 and the HD5750 around $120. It around the same performance as a HD4870 so the price should match it or be a little more. This card should be cheaper to make then a HD4870 too.

I think techpowerups review was quite good, it shows what to expect for performance. Looks like a decent overclocker, with very nice gains. Around 4870 512mb performance, but it really jumps up alot from clocking.

Yeah I love techpowerup! relative performance, performance/watt, and performance/dollar charts.

It seems the 5850 is the most efficient in terms of power and 4850 is most efficient in terms of price.

I hope they lower the price of this. DX11, or Eyefinity don't really do anything for me (yet)

It looks like it hangs very well with a gtx260. This may be a good card to grab till we see what nvidia has to offer.

It would be nice to see mid range cards benchmarked on mid range platforms for a change where people can get a real world idea of the cards.
Who would want to put a $100 card on a $600+ CPU, not inless people are getting payed to make the cards look their best. Cant you put your feet on the ground once in a while.
