PC-Q07 Mini ITX case (Lian Li) ... only for people who like Mini ITX

Hi, my previous posting must have gone lost while the server was down.
Therefore here we go again ...

    Click me harder !

Looking for really small PC cases, I found some interesting alternatives:

    1. Morex

    2. JCP

    3. Psile

    4. Silverstone SG05

The first two might develop a heat problem.
The Psile seems overpriced for what you get, I think.
The SG05 is nicely designed, but I had prefered better quality material.

What else is small and beautiful ?

There is a new case from Morex.
Looks pretty similar to the PC-Q(0)7 ... the internals are arranged differently.

    source

    Questions ...

    1. Why the hell is there still a 3.5 inch bay ?

    2. Is the whole world painted black now ? What's wrong with silver ?

    3. Why can't the I/O be hidden behind a lid ?

    4. The front looks like plastic, why no aluminium ? Where has quality gone ?

    5. No LED for HDD / SSD and power ?

Yeah ... why, oh why ?

PS: on the plus side, I think the internal design is better than Lian Li's one.

The Lian-Li is too limited. It uses ATX PSU and 1 PCI slot. The SG05 however... sweet. Only if they used SFF PSUs then large heatsink can be used.

All systems sold. Will be back after Sandy Bridge!

    Nice pic !

    VR-Zone Silverstone SG05

The original intention of the mini-ITX form factor was to couple embedded low-power processors with casings as small as possible.
Silverstone relies on a 120mm intake fan in the front to create airflow in the casing.
The inclusion of a 2.5" bay goes hand in hand with the decreasing cost and increasing popularity of solid state drives.
For those who don't like having the Silverstone logo on the front of their casing, Silverstone has gone to the trouble of including a blank replacement panel.
The main noisemaker in our setup was none other than the ATI Radeon HD4870 graphics card.
We must note that the 120mm intake fan as well as the 80mm power supply fan were both very quiet.
The 300W power supply hits the sweet spot ...
The mini-ITX arena has seen renewed interest of late, and as more manufacturers jump into this arena we should see prices fall.

The dust filter for the fan is cool but the material quality of the case is not aluminium though.

Hi, these pics originate from here: [H]ardforum

Xtremesystems.org really has some catching up to do in respects of SFF.
I mean, there must be some fans of SFF but where are they ?

I'm one of them. Who else ? Jeez ...

Isn't that the smallest PC case for Mini iTX you have ever seen ?

That case is about $ 39.95.- in US or 50 Euro, but the PSU cost (more than 100 Euro) far too much. That's rip off.

    The Coolermaster TC-100A

    Main features: fanless & dustrestistance
    Dimension: 200 mm (W) x 256 mm (D) x 75 mm (H)
Available space: 2.5" HDD / SSD
Operating temperature: up to 50 degrees C ambient

Ok, first thing I noticed, I don't seem to find any online retailer who has this case. WTF ?
Hell, I can't even find anything about this case at all (except on Coolermaster's website). WTF again.
I challange you to come up with any info at all.
Then, running a Q9550S passively would mean instant death, right ? (for the CPU I mean, duh!)
But how could I implement an active CPU cooling without having sufficient airflow ? I can't see enough space in such a tiny case.

This case looks awesome anyway I think.
I love the symetric of this case, with the power button exactly in the middle.
I wonder whether the power LED was built into the power button, and the LED for HDD too (outer circle possibly) ?

And regarding the external PSU ? Isn't that only an external transformator 220 V to 12 V ?
And inside the case might be a tiny panel above the duplex connector which divides the 12 V into whatever the motherboard needs, as well as power for the 2.5" HDD or SSD.
Funny thing is that such a "PSU" is rather primitive compared to high quality PSUs, but it still cost about DOUBLE the money while it should cost HALF, the most.
That's actually not funny but rip-off.

The hottest parts in a common PC are ...

    1. GPU, if there is an external graphics card.
In our case there is no space for external graphic cards, so the IGP would be the number 1 heat source I guess ?

    2. CPU can get rather hot too despite the modern 45nm process.
    That's why I thought about UC/UV.

    3. PSU. Because the transformator would be located outside the PC case, I can't see a heat problem there.

By the way ... not as beautiful, but interesting too is Coolermaster's other PC case, called the Cube ...

Hi, only a few hours ago I received the PC-Q07 and what can I say ?

Wow, I cannot imagine the material quality to be any better than that.
It has to be the lightest PC case I ever had, plus it feels special everytime I touch the surface.

It looks in real life so much better than on any pictures.

I'm so impressed, that I will get the red version as well.

    Sweet!

I don't know How I missed this thread.

I'm in the process of building an ITX system and I think the hardest choice is what case to buy. I'll be reading this thread with great interest.

I haven't been able to order this case yet because Newegg either is selling out so quick or they're taking long to restock it. The only available color is black although I'd like to get a silver one. I'll probably get a Intel mini itx mobo & wd black 250gb sata laptop hd along with it.

I'm torn between choosing a PC-Q07 in Black and one of the new Sugo S06 cases in black

The new S06 Sugo fixes my most major complaint about the S05. The unattractive case front. The S05 would look good on a desk but not in my media cabinet. The S06 has a much more attractive brushed Aluminum Case front

The PC-Q07 is a contender because of the interesting case layout and 3.5" ODD. The Slimline BluRay player required for the SG06 and SG05 is quite a bit more expensive.

I ordered the PC-Q07 in black since that's the only color Newegg offers. I also ordered a Zotac 630i mini itx mobo which I'll be using a C2D E6400 cpu. I have a CM GeminII S cpu cooler that I'll be using as well but I'll use a Scythe S-flex G fan. Hopefully that cpu cooler will fit in that case. If not then I'll have to order something else. Stay tuned.
