Rampage II Extreme-Heat killer back plate problem

    Hello to all,

    I have a little problem :

I'am building a new system based on a Asus Rampage II Extreme .I have a Heatkiller 3.0 cpu block&optional back plate.Problem is : Metal surface of the back plate contacts with the Asus stack cooler bracket (Whic is not removable)So how can I avoid metal to metal contact?
Btw: Allready used those red plastic rings (Spacers) but still no luck.(And used the 'search' function but came up with nothing)

I Am thinking to cut/made a 1-2mm thick spacer (Between the stack cooler&Heatkiller back plate) shaped like the back plate.
But maybe there is a easier solution?

Theoreticaly the corners could bend in and scratch the tracks on the board because of the metal plate.

If you are only worried about making electrical contact get some electrical tape on it.

Metal to metal is fine. Just use the washers and you're good to go.

Normally there's plastic backing material on the Watercool plate. The block manual states to leave it on. Did you pull yours off?

The manual I have has no reference to the cover material on the backplate. The cover material you speak of was all chewed up from the engraving process though, it looked horrible, and wasn't necessary...so I removed it.

    Hi,
Yes I pull it off but it was on the back side (on the watercool logo) also as skinnee said : 'The cover material you speak of was all chewed up from the engraving process though, it looked horrible, and wasn't necessary...so I removed it'

I guess I might have a newer revision. There's no engraving on mine.
