FragMagnet bested 4.4 -4.5 you ask for...he did fifteen minutes of prime95 on air at 4557, and only 1.456 vcore. He had HT disabled however, but his temps were around 83C. For a i7 920/w3520 to successfully pass prime, with no errors, at 83C and 4557 proves the superiority of its AC characteristics.
In fact, I've never seen prime95 screens at anything close to that. Could yours do the same? My guess is that it is entirely possible, or at least come close.

I've just bought a D0 on Ebay. It was $299.99 w/ FS but cashback is 14%. $257 is not bad at all, plus the seller is always on another forum. The link for the aution is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200335103915. 9 left.

While I appreciate that, all thanks should go to ben. He is the one who brought my attention to it in the first place.

Totally agreed. 15min of prime means nothing, especially when I have had OCs that took 6hrs to fail, but they did fail.

Yeah, that's a pretty good price and if you have ebay bucks, it brings it down just $1 cheaper than Microcenter w/ tax.

I ordered an SLBEJ s-spec chip from compumusic, and eventually received a confirmation stating that it would be a D0. Unfortunately, the chip that I received is an SLBCH :-/

I received my D0 from Compumusic last night, it's the same batch as ben posted and its a phenominal chip. My P6T Deluxe V2 maxes at 218 bclck so I'll have to wait until next when I get a new board in finish testing.

Here's my mini review on my results so far:

Yes this chip rocks! I'm still playing with it but so far I'm at 4.30Ghz with HT on, LinX haven't crash yet. I crossflashed my P6T Deluxe V2 board with the V1 BIOS 1403 few days ago and now I have access to the 21X multiplier without needing to turn speedstep/turbo on. And with the V1 bios this board appear to be more stable than with the original 0302 V2 BIOS!

I just checked out your review of this chip and noticed that mine also have uneven core temperature variation looks exactly like yours that increases gradually with the first core being the hottest and the 4th one is the coolest. I reseated the heatsink couple times and still no change so I guess it's probably due to how the naked cores soldered on the IHS.

instead of shipping a C0 they should have told you they didn't have any in stock before "changing" the order.

i know "normal" people don't care about a C0 or D0 but, if they receive this muhc demands these days it's because they carry D0 and people want one, they should know that

    weird decision from the store

Did a local pickup today. The seller gave me a tube of Shin-Etsu for free since I saved him shipping cost.

I agree. They're accepting it back for a refund(shipped at their cost). There was apparently some sort of mix-up at their warehouse.

No joke, he provided validation screens. But no program, whether it be Prime, email, linpack, linx, aol login screen, web browser..... they are all purely arbitrary and are no assurance that the computer won't crash using the same prog or a different one sometime in the future. There's no such thing as a "stability guaranty" except the one issued by Intel, and that one is totally independent of which program is running.

Stability IS relative to what you use your computer for.

exactly right. If a person never experiences a crash or malfunction, and all the use their computer for is to check Email, then the computer is "stable". Doesn't matter that it can't run prime, linpack or play Solitaire, it's stable if those apps are never run.

This has got to be the most abused excuses often use by lamer out there, to justify their unrealistically out of this world overclocking result that solely aim to deceive people! If the stock clock speed of your system did not crash anything...why should you demand anything less at overclocked speed? The bottom line is, it doesn't matter how or what you use the computer for, if your shiznit failed to perform as reliably and as rock solid as the way it should be before you OC'ed it, then your sh1t simply isn't stable, period.

Ordered a Core i7 920 from Compumusic, turns out it was an SLBCH as well. Their customer service doesn't work weekends... glad I didn't start taking apart this computer after all like I'd planned.

A big mix up then, because I also got an SLBCH processor. I'm rather pissed right now, that's #2. I just drove over to the UPS hub to pick it up because otherwise it would have not been delivered until Monday. Now I have to wait until Monday anyway before I can call them and get a return on it. Their page still says they are SLBEJ chips, but sold out.

By this logic the computer is always stable right up until it actually crashes.

Nice post, definitely agree with you there. However I have the opposite experience with regards Prime and Linx LOL I always ran Linx first 20 passes with max workload and mem and if it passed I primed for 24 hours and I always have to bump voltage up a couple notches in order to get Prime stable.

I had stopped using Linx because of this but I suppose the best solution is to continue what I was doing before using both tests.

Exactly right. If your computer doesn't crash when it is OCed, then it is stable. Doesn't matter what you are running, could just be an Email machine,
or perhaps you boot into windows, take a validation screen shot, then turn off your computer. If it performed those tasks properly, it's stable. That's the dictionary definition of 'stability'.
