The EVGA doesnt have a 1x pcie slot at the top. All slots are covered by cards in tri sli, this is why I didnt buy the EVGA board.

A good measure of a 'stable' system.

    Hey guys,

My first post, build, oc everything.

I just finished assembling a with Rampage II extreme, I7 920, 6GB of Corsair Dominator 1600 sticks. I can OC it to easily to get 191x20 (191x21 with Turbo) at 1.4125V for Vcore and it posts, boots fine and runs fine. I can even run OCCT fine unless, I check the 'Hyperthreading as dualcore' option (it is not checked by default) and then the tests usually fail. So I am not sure if option is required for a good measure of stable system or am I expecting too much? I should mention that it even failed once at stock speed with this option when I did a 1hour run, but worked after that it worked fine (it worked fine even with 180bclk after that). So I am now all confused about what is a good measure of what is considered 'stable'?

    TIA

Does the HR-05 SLI/IFX fit ok on this board?

It should, I will take some pics! An old heatsink from an socket 462 nforce 2 board fit perfectly on mine, as do most NB universal coolers! I put a small fan on it. You should be able to see it a few pages back!

You need to raise vCore, HT taxes the CPU much more so you need a bit more voltage. Hyper threading enables 2 threads out of each core & it's one of the main features of Core i7 CPU's, in real life very few apps take advantage of it, but having it enabled is always good & boosts performance.

For high overclocks many people find it easier with it disabled.

Here is a pic, I had to bend it a bit so it wouldnt hit the liquid cooling tube. You probably won't have to though, Scaramonga.....

What are temps like buddy? as I notice the base is smaller than the copper surface.

Oh......and I take it board requires removing for fitting?

Is that as high as you can go on 1.55 vcore?

I was realy hoping that the XE's could get at least 4.4-4.5 at 1.55 vcore....

Try running everything stock and raising the multi to get around 4.4- 4.5! It doesnt seem rasing BCLCK gives you that much more performance comparing to higher CPU Clocks

Even 1.4V work if they do not do Prime
If HT is OFF&low MEM and Uncore, i7 may be possible at 1.55V - 4.5GHz

The temps at full load@4.2ghz is between 40c-43c dependind on the temp in my room!! yes it is smaller, but that nb copper part is much larger than the actual x58 NB. You won't have to bend it like I did, I just had to make it fit under the watertube. If I had more tubing slack I would not have needed to do that....

Awesome buddy Many thx for that Have ordered one, hope it gets here for Xmas lol!.

My temps are 45-54 NB on stock without clocking ATM, so I'll be way happy with what yours are when I up the figures

Oh, and wouldn't the Non-SLI version (HR-05/IFX) have cleared your tubes? or was it just too tight?

I am not sure if the non-sli one would have cleared the tubes as I don't have one.....I had this hr05Sli/ifx left over from cooling a SB on my 790i Ultra I had before!
