    OMG FXB M2RSH owners!

Just downloaded and flashed the latest beta bios.....

    Guess what.

Massive stability increase on my system with ACC(on auto) on so far.
With original bios i could not reach my previous 3.3Ghz(old M2RS), had to go down to 3 GHz halfway stable.
Primestable as i type with less voltage than i used to.

And now reached 3.3 Ghz effortless lol just set multiplier and roughly volts to 1.47V.

But had not enough time to play around enuff. Looks promising they did fix much more than mentioned in the release notes.

USB Keyboard owners beware after flashing USB keyboard isnt detected anymore you need to connect PS2 Keyboard after that its fine.

Just to let you guys know, in case u dont reach good overclocks with stock bios try the latest beta!!!
And be carful when flashing under windows while overclocked lol. Winflash hang when flashing or right before it. The stock bios is crap and dangerous while overclocked!!!

Edit: can someone please provide the link to the K10calc?? Forgot the FID and DID values for NB multiplier increase. Thx

    small update!

Got Vista 64 running at 3.3Ghz, before max was 3.2Ghz stable. Have not tried much further but VERY VERY promising.
I guess they got ACC to work properly.

Thanks for pointing this out it has made a big difference.

I'm still not able to trust ACC with auto past 2.9 but it needs less adjusting. I also need fewer volts.

dont flash to 9/30 official. you'll lose the ability to change the NB multiplier. 9/19 feels a bit better too.

LOL The only other board I would swap this one for is possibly the Destroyer. I don't think I'll be getting another Asus anytime soon, I liked the Maximus, P5E and P5K premium when I played with them but the amount of problems I had when owning the P5W DH Deluxe Asus has been tainted for me for life.

I think you need 100 posts. You may be able to contact the mods and see if they can let you view it as well.

Mattskees if you just reply 53 more times to this post then you will get access. LOL

On paper the Asus M3A79-T sounds like a good board, to look at the M3A79-T looks nice, but with all the problems I have had with Asus I just can not trust there boards any more. I think I will keep my DFI DK 790FXB-M2RSH and give it ago and see how it runs as this will be my 1st DFI motherboard.

    M2RSH issues??

    Curious guys...

Been considering getting this board but some reviewers on the Egg state that it is a power hog??

    Is this true???

Also does this one not play nice with Enermax PSUs as well??

I would imagine all the previous posters would recommend it otherwise eh??

Well, over at DFI fora they indeed say Enermax PSU's have increased chance of killing the motherboard. So I'd suggest not to mess around on that part and get a supported PSU.

What exactly do you mean with 'power hog' though? That is uses a lot of power? I dont know where this would be based on though. Doesnt this depend on the rest of your system?

btw, yes I owned a previous DFI cfx3200m2/g and my enermax killed my mobo, and killed itself (the psu) RMA'd both of them, didn't know any better and then it got killed again.

now i'm on the DFI 790FX-M2R and i have a new version of the enermax galaxy 1kw and it seemed to work out. now what I do not know, is when I went to connect my eSATA drive through the adapter bracket to this motherboard with this psu, the driver or whatever installed and it worked, i could read and do whatever with the drive. Well then my computer all of a sudden just started restarting. Randomly. I need my Desktop to work as it hasn't actually been working but for 2 months out of a year pretty much.

SO, I'm scared to connect the eSATA, and I have now sold my 1kw enermax, and gotten a silverstone 1kw decathlon. I may try the eSATA bracket and connecting it again, but probably not. I will probably just wait for a port on the back of the I/O on the mobo

Well at least for the power "hog" comment

I stand corrected. There were some comments (non-specific) from reviewers on NewEgg that spoke about having an "adequate" power supply for the 790FX M2R/S. Sorry about that....

As far as the M2RSH I might go ahead and order both it and the UT M2RS this weekend. Set em' up in the test rig and if everything is a go then install the M2RS into the comp that currently has my M2N and install the M2RSH to replace the comp that has my M2N32 (I am not an Asus guy or anything it just worked out that way this time around). Seem to be some reports of DoAs with both the UT M2RS and DK M2RSH I hope I am "lucky".....

I will hope to be posting OC results and specs b/f X-mas. We'll see how it goes.

i just built a system (hoping to drop a PII in later) using this board

it wasn't doa, but it lit on fire in the VRM section about a week after i got the system built (about a day and a half of total uptime)

im guessing this toasted my 9950 as well, but im not certain. im going to RMA the board(its already packed up), and have a RMA number to send back the chip if it turns out to be dead also. how likely is it that the board didnt kill this chip? im guessing nil, but dont have any experience with mobos lighting on fire after 20-25 different builds

is stuff like this common with this board? people are reporting good things and success stories, so im going to chance another one, but i really dont want to be disappointed again and have the thing try to burn down my house again. people are also reporting lots of DOA boards and ones that die after a short time, like mine, so i just prey that i get a good one this time around

this is my first bad experience with dfi and it really suprised me. havent run an amd board from them for awhile though.

Sounds like you had the same thing as me in a short time

My IMC got... flawed after this, it wont run 4 DIMMs anymore. I dont know how OC'ing would go with the IMC/memory etc, Im going to send it for RMA as soon as my PhII arrives.

Im thinking about ordering craploads of Thermalright heat sinks for the NB, SB and MOSFETs but... Im starting to wonder more and more whether this board is up for the task in the first place. It's kind of weird quite a few people suffer from this.

    Wow it set on fire!?

I've heard of the xfx 750a blowing smoke rings when oc'd but not this motherboard. I have been quite enthusiastic whilst upping voltages as well. In fact I've been OC'ing it heavily in order to try and squeeze the best out of my 9850 for two months now without issue.

This is the first board I have ever bought from DFI and on its merits I would consider another one. But the thought that my rig may turn into a fireball a few months down the line has taken some of the shine off of it.

it shut itself down with a burning smell the first time something happened, then i started pulling stuff and testing it in my intel rigs, narrowed down to cpu/board, ran board with no power connected to cpu socket+no cpu in socket, error code on led. plugged up the 8 pin connector and it went boom. cant test the phenom in another board because i dont have one thats easily accessible

it didnt just light on fire while i was browsing the web.

plus, it appears that people either get a good board, or it dies pretty quick. so if you're past the first week or so of uptime, id say you are in the clear.

    I'll second that....

This is worry-some though. Yet, despite the previous posters I am giving em' a go and I decided to go with both.....

I am ordering my UT M2RS and DK M2RSH tonight so I'll will put them in the test rig pronto and give folks a play by play with problems or issues I run into.

Please let us know IF you all have any issues (especially for you 2nd timers....)
