My goal is to get 4Ghz stable... Im on custom water, only the CPU and GPU are cooled by the water. What are my max voltage settings for the majors (PLL/VTT/NB etc) under water? I want to keep this chip for at least a year.

I have read A LOT of this thread but I just cant seem to get 4Ghz stable at all, most of the time, I cant even get her to boot.

trying to get my E8500 4.3ghz stable...I think I may need to mess with the GTL voltages but I'm not sure what to do.

I am back. Just got done testing my ram and got some ?s
    G-Skill PI 8800 1100mhz (rated on 1.8-1.9v)

    DRAM Frequency: 1133mhz
    Timings: 5-5-5-15, trfc 55
    DRAM Voltage: 1.96
    SRC: Enabled
    Read Training: Auto
    Mem OC Charger: Enabled
    AI Clock Twister: Light
Transaction Booster: PL7, All Pull ins enabled
    NBv: 1.26
    FSBv:1.32

This is the weird thing, I ran it 2 hours OCCT Test and it passed, then it benched Everest 9150mb/s and 93.7ns Latency. I then tried a quick Prime81 blend and it BSOD'd my system after 1 hour! So I then ran two more OCCT tests, 1 passed and 1 BSOD. What do I do here? Should I raise my Ram voltage 1 notch to 1.98(2.06-2.07 in reality) I don't know how much is too much when it comes to voltage for this kit, it is DDR2 and tons of DDR2 kits out there are handling 2.2v or more and I have decent heat spreaders on my kit, see here

Last time I increased my voltage from 1.94 to 1.96 It helped me drop 2 whole PL levels, but I love my ram and do not want to burn them up. What do you guys think?

Hey gurusan, obviously I can't help you with clocking Wolfdale as I have no experience with that silicon yet but I can help you analyse your own findings, like what is the max clock you have so far that is stable? and how was the journey from stock upwards? (i.e what was the main setting that allowed the bulk of the speed boost? vCore or?)

Look like you have pumped PLL and vCore heavily and I also notice you have started dabbling in more advanced memory settings. Have you tried taking the strain off the memory while you work on your max CPU clock, or is that memory set-up nice and loose?

Also is that a new chip or has it been abused by someone before you!

the chip is brand new, I'm the first owner...and I put it in and set vcore to 1.44v and tried clocking to 4.3ghz but it was not stable. I tried stepping the clock down a bit and playing with GTL ratios but to no avail..

so I deleted all my settings and started with 1.408v load to shoot for my max 24/7 clock...I'm not going to run it past this voltage for my 24/7 clocks.

Currently I'm at 4133mhz (435fsb) stable as shown below...and I'm now priming 4.15ghz and if it's stable I think I'll leave it here.

As for my journey upwards from stock, I don't really journey that way lol. I usually just set my highest comfortable voltages and shoot for a high clock and work backwards from there.

And as for my memory, those settings are pretty loose. These OCZ sticks can do around 1200mhz with only 2.18v through them, currently they are running 2.16v (p5q overvolts by .08v) so they still have some headroom.

I see, wow your really a rush overclocker gurusan and of course I am the complete opposite!

I would have installed that chip and run it at stock minimum settings for a day or two for observation etc, then I would have started to reduce the vCore lower and lower until I found what the minimum voltage it needed to run prime stable, after finding its *True Stock VID* then its time to overclock, while this method is slower its heaps more methodical and you get to really see how your chip scales as you would be slowly but surely bumping the vCore as you journeyed upwards from stock/undervolt to overclocked/overvolt, you also get to see what is the *sweet-spot* of your chip before you get to that point of diminishing vcore returns.

I wouldn't want to slow down the way you work as it seems you have a new chip every week atm so testing time is limited but I would be interested to know what is the *True stock VID* of your chips before you overclock them and overvolt them to death!
