Working: 4870 Overclocking with AMD GPU Clock Tool + Fan Speed Fix

I haven't seen a fix for this out there yet so here's how:

In the .xml file you needed to edit for the fan speed fix, simply remove the following section:

<Feature name="CoreClockTarget_0">
<Property name="Want_0" value="50000" />
<Property name="Want_1" value="50000" />
<Property name="Want_2" value="75000" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="MemoryClockTarget_0">
<Property name="Want_0" value="90000" />
<Property name="Want_1" value="90000" />
<Property name="Want_2" value="90000" />
</Feature>

When you set your core and memory in GPU-Z the fan will default back to the defaults. Activate your new profile with the above change and your fan will speed up and leave the overclock untouched. Enjoy!

Now lets see some 4870 overclocking!

I'm using WinXP and it works flawlessly. It's a CCC profile setting which would normally be blank if you didn't enabe Overdrive; you're just taking away the clock presets as if Overdrive wasn't enabled.

Lol, it's just for benching, and I'll be honest... Benching lasted no more than five minutes, the fan was driving me loony.

Sorry guys, wrong title. The fix is with AMD Clock tool and the fan speed fix.

It may only work with the hotfix drivers (not the 8.7betas) but I cannot confirm. I am definitely using the hotfix ones though.

Not sure what the issue is if it's not working. Here is my 40% fan speed CCC profile for people to try. You can try to copy-paste over your CCC profile with this minus the last five lines (where it starts with "name="PCI_VEN_1002&amp..."). Leave that part from your original CCC profile there.

<Profile>
<Caste name="Graphics">
<Groups>
<Group name="Overdrive5">
<Feature name="TimeUnlocked" />
<Feature name="OverclockEnabled">
<Property name="OverclockEnabledProperty" value="True" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="FanSpeedProtocol_0">
<Property name="FanSpeedProtocolProperty" value="Percent" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="FanSpeedAlgorithm_0">
<Property name="FanSpeedAlgorithm" value="Manual" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="FanSpeedRPMTarget_0">
<Property name="Want" value="0" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="FanSpeedPercentTarget_0">
<Property name="Want" value="40" />
</Feature>
</Group>
</Groups>
<Adapter name="PCI_VEN_1002&DEV_9440&SUBSYS_0502100 2&REV_00_4&196AFE53&0&0008A">
<Aspect name="Overdrive5" />
</Adapter>
</Caste>
</Profile>

Steps are:
1) Set the clock in AMD GPU clock
2) Activate the above profile from right-clicking the ATI icon on the task bar.

This DOES work.

It doesn't work for me above 790/1100 (standard overdrive limit). In such case the fan goes back to BIOS settings.

It works for me!! Thank you! The key must be using the ccc icon in the taskbar. I didn't have to delete the voltage settings in the profile though..

Same code? I know if I try to enable the profile in directly in CCC after OC'ing it doesn't work, via the taskbar, it does... I'm using AMD GPU clock tool to overclock.
