    @Irenic

At least for you the P5E3 Premium is in its infancy. You can expect first tier BIOS support for the next 4 months.

I personally preferred the Rampage over the P5E3 Premium. There are no temps and voltages being monitored/captured on this board for the chipsets through Lavalys Everest and other third party monitoring software. Hence no NB, SB Temps being reported.

Man the voltages you described are so over the top unless you got a baord that undervolted big time... and surely not good for 24/7 45nm CPU settings...
Secondly it's normal that once a board gets mature like P35/X38 mobo's and most bugs are ironed out that Bios supports seems to slack...but after a few months that's way to soon... is it better to have a new bios each month, dunno...and not all problems can be solved via a bios update...
Each mobo it's own bios department ? that would mean an extra building at Asus just for bios development and wouldn't that also mean that bios release should be more responsive than it is at it's current rate...surely for the ROG range...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

If they're dropping support after such short periods of time its no wonder people like me dont like asus and continually complain about quality

That's just my point Stevil they aren't... man we still get biosses for P5W Dlx, Asus Striker extreme and co... ofcourse at a certain date you cannot expect a bios update each week/month and like I stated before not all probs can be solved via the bios, some hardware is just incompatible...

too bad for enthusiast like us, there's no room for waiting.. how can u expect to wait 5 months for a bios update? while in 5 months we've been using 2-3 mainboards..

I've recently talked to a US Bio tech and they said the maximus extreme wasn't designed for the C1 stepping, and that makes me sad.

Also the CPU needs 1.325 for 450FSB. and with VDroop 1.355v.

If your your BIOS doesn't have the full barrage of Voltage adjustments you are screwed, more than likely.

You need to tweak NB to 1.75v, CPU Pll to 1.75v, FSB vtt to 1.50v, CPU to 1.45v, sb to 1.175v, etc.

My DFI Blood Iron would do 525FSB with only a bump in vcore and vdimm. To get to 550FSB it required a .2v bump to the NB. This was with an E6750, E6600, and an E8400. I never tried with a quad but I am sure that same would not be true.

Sorry for asking a total noob question, but what's the difference between this and a Q9450.... If given the choice which would you buy

Normally Xeons are better binned CPU's, which normally means they run slightly better , you see that I use normally much as some Q9450 run better than some Xeons and other way around, you need to look for a good batch... and get that one... expect 3.6-3.8Ghz daily...

I don't know what kind of Mod you are on which ASUS forum but surely you have no clue whatsoever, that's for sure.

    T2K -

If you can run a Q6600 at 433x9 or a X3350 at 470x8 (with C1E and EIST disabled and On Air) with a VGA 9800GTX OCd by 22% and DDR2 ram at 1150-1200 on less than a NB voltage of 1.60v on a Maximus, rampage or P5E3 Prime stable for 12 hours, I'll have Asus send you a Free Mobo.

Let's see the voltages and screen shots posted again at 480x8 on your Rampage!!!!

What would be the best mobo to put one of these on ? I read that just about every chipset has a moderate fsb wall , except maybe 790i , they seem to be clocking well .

Just dropped in another X3350, same pack date and everything as my previous one. VID = 1.0500

One thing to note is that my cores are all within 1C of each other, whereas my old one had two cores about 5-6 C lower than the other half.

    EDIT:
Having trouble getting into windows stable at 480FSB. Don`t know if it`s this board or the CPU. I`m trying to sell off some parts so I can get another mobo

My X3350 showed both a VID=1.05V in CoreTemp. But if I use the new final v0.99 they are different.
The ChangeLog of CoreTemp stated: - Fix: Incorrect VID detection on 45nm desktop Intel parts.

Just got my x3350 and a DFI Lanparty DK x38.
It's priming a 3.4 ghz 1.23 vcore and 1.34v NB atm and looks like it will be stable.
    I got a huge problem with my RAM though. It's an apogee 1066 4B kit 5-5-5-15 2t. (2.2v)
Whenever i change settings from auto my system wont boot anymore and i have to reset cmos.
Is there any ram timing guide around here. (Most interested in the secondary timings if one can call them that) Didn't find anything useful with search.

I'd also be interested what voltages can be considered save for 24/7 use. Northbridge and CPU are watercooled.

Check your memory dividers and how they're set (333/667 or 333/800 or so).
1.34V for the NB might be a little low, try 1.45V and see if that works.
Just set your memory at 5-5-5-5-15 and the rest on AUTO, and 2.15V on them just to be sure.

I've got a X3350 here which won't work at all on both my DFI UT-P35's, but it does on the DK-P35. Weird.

Maximus was sold as fully Penryn compatible. It ISN'T.
