Thats b/c core temp has the Tjmax wrong. Use realtemp.

How do you know about real temp but dont know why there is a difference in the programs???

i know all about realtemp/Tjmax etc just posted both results anyway

what im talking about is the variation across the cores

my cpu isnt perfectly flat but its no worse than my E6600 and that had pretty even temps

the cooler is a thermalright ultra extreme

    oh my bad...!

when you say 'load' I assume you mean running small fft's in PRime 95 or OCCT correct? PLaying a game is not full load on the cores as most games out now most certainly do not balance our hte load on teh cores. Maybe thats why?

4ghz is quite easy with Q9550 (X3360) with any good cooling. I'm finding fsb wall is hit somewhere past 475fsb. Board is IP35-Pro (temp), cooling is xigmatek hdt-s1283 push/pull fans.

Great What's your CPU VID? I think in Q9450 is not so much important cause i've got one VID 1.250v and it's much better than my other with VID 1.050v.

I'm working on it right now. But the VID is 1.125 i think, But Its at 1.3325 in bios right now at 3.2Ghz, Currently in stress test using voltage 1.27. This thing is HOT at any voltage. I have no idea why. Core 1 is currently 70C, Core 2 is currently at 64C, Core 3/4 is at 67C. My Q6600 wasn't never this hot. Also the Chip idles hot too for some reason, its about 65F in my room right now. I don't get it. it should be running alot cooler then this.

Just picked up one from a local Microcenter. It's L812A528 with 5/5/08 pack date.
One odd thing though, there was also another one with 5/5/08 pack date, but older batch of L811A9xx
By the way, MC is still selling a Q9450 for $299

I got C1 stepping, I think there is a problem with C1 and my motherboard, I can't go above 430 so far. I gotta keep trying. The C1 stepping started to get worked on Bios in the 1004 bios for Maximus Extreme. I'm trying 1007, and 1101 right now. No luck. The CPU is still running hot. But Max Load temp has gone down about 2-4C.

I've tried Real Temp first, then Core Temp, then Everest. Most of my readings are from Real Temp. v2.5

Have you considered lapping your CPU/CPU cooler heatsink?

I just did the other day, and core temps have fallen between 5-10 degrees C.

I haven't the balls to lap mine yet. I'm gonna wait to see if the Wolfdale degradation is really true or just a myth.

I'm dying to do it as currently under folding load my core temps range from 46c to 54c.

Yip the average temp is fine, but the 8c difference between the coolest and warmest core is annoying.

I just got finished running some tests with my new Q9450 from MC yesterday. Packed 5/5/08, and it's running hot too, with a 10 degree difference between the hottest and coolest cores. Don't remember the batch number right now, but the VID was 1.125. Maybe this latest batch is somewhat of a bad run?

Did you guys run that test on Real Temp? To see if you have sticking sensors? (grasping at straws here). The differences in mine are at most 3Cm normally 1-2C (pre calibration of course).

I think the stuck sensor thing only happens @ load - not when idle, so it should be easy to tell. Mine are also stuck on idle. After lapping difference between cores @ load is around 4-5 degrees.
