I built my new rig last night and put 2x320GB WD AAKS in RAID 0. I installed Vista in 14 minutes!!! I was quite pleased. Plus those drives and the 640GB WD AAKS are whisper quiet!
    Current Gaming Rig:
    • Intel Core i7 860 @ 3.6GHz (22x165, 33C idle, 69C load)
    • Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R
    • G.Skill 8GB RipJaws DDR3-1333
    • Diamond ATI 5870
    • CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W
    • Plextor Black 24x DVD Black w/ LightScribe
    • LG CH10LS20 Blu-Ray Reader
    • Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

So here are two WD6400AAKS on intel matrix raid. One RAID 0 slice is 200GB (for OS) and the other one with all remaining GB's is 1TB RAID 0 slice. Benchmarks are done with HDTach 3.0.4.0 - Long bench 32mb. Both "slices" have stripe size of 64kb.

    Slice No. 1 - 200GB

    Slice No. 1 - 1TB

is it possible that u stripe 1 part lets say the first part of the HDD in RAID under RAID0 and the rest striping it as RAID1 for storage purposes?
In the case u are getting 2x WD6400AAKS

as far as I'm aware, the F1 reliability issues have not yet been resolved,
but were supposed to be when the F1 320GB drives hit retail markets.

Ok, and any comments to my other thread? LINK

And you say "Between the Samsung and the WD" are there any other opportunities that are worth considering?
