Before i get this board I need to know , When I mount the TRUE vertical ( and yes I need to mount this way for the best performance) it would hit the stock NB cooler, so I want to replace the Stock NB with a Thermalright HR-05 IFX or IFX/SLI, the SLI probbly would hit the GFX as I need to use the main PCI-E for 16x lane that would not help, but how about the NON SLI? would that work without hitting the Thermalright-120 Extreme?

If you have the time I'd love to see your bios.

It DOES fit vertically. You just need to have it rotated correctly. If you have it mounted veritcally and the heat pipe is hitting the NB flip it around. Worked for me anyway.

Does anyone know when a new official bios is going to be released?
I need the beta's features (new VTT tables) but on an official bios in case something goes wrong (warranty).

I really want to play with my E8400 but my bios keeps me back on finding stable settings.
I have only found max boot fsb 560 until now.

Is there a blank template for the Bios someone can link to?
What is the preferred program for stability testing? Orthos? Prime95v255?
Prime 95 under processes (CPU time) shows twice the real elapsed time.
Cause of the Dual cores I would imagine.
Custom 800MB for each 1G stick?

Appears to me that the latest Everest versions show the most accurate and complete temp/voltage information (and it corresponds with CoreTemp 0.96.1.)

Air-Cooled (you can call me a pansy) with the Zalman 9700 I have Core 1 running about 10 degrees hotter than Core 2.
Remount HSF or is this common to have?

Definitely all about the GTLs for me (60, 59, 60 NB) and tRFC at 36 (40 wasn't stable for me). 5-5-5-15 and almost everything else on AUTO.

    4400MHz with CPU-z validation
    http://premium1.uploadit.org/soundx9...00Verified.JPG

4300MHz runs great but Core 1 craps out after an hour (heat probably) while Core 2 keeps chugging along for hours (aborted it after 4/8)
    http://premium1.uploadit.org/soundx98//4300-Detail.JPG

    Super Pi at 11 secs
    http://premium1.uploadit.org/soundx98//SuperPi.JPG

Ran the rig overnight for 8 hours at 4300 looping a movie.
No issues at all and very responsive.

I would bet I'll wind up at 4200MHz 24 hour stable unless I can lick the heat issue on Core 1.
I'll try and post an SS later.

So far I am really impressed by the E8400's performance.

I also think the Everest Stress is pretty nifty for monitoring temps
    http://premium1.uploadit.org/soundx9...tress-Test.JPG

I wouldn't worry about flashing the 109 Bios at this point.
I couldn't even get into the Bios without flashing to it and the Tmod/Loggan CD did a superb job of making it easy for me.

    hats off to those oldfahts

Pick up a spare Bios Chip (much cheaper than a CPU) and keep an Official Bios on it in Case of Armageddon.
Great idea to have one of the around anyway with a DFI board.
(plus a Rosary, prayer shawl, and a couple of Nuns)

Thanks for all the words of encouragement.
(Campbell I got so much wood I could poke your eye out from here)

My Command Rate is at 2T instead of 1T.
    Did I miss a setting?

I use OCCT for quick testing & Prime for the long runs.

Prime95 version 25.6d. This version fixes the load sharing issue and the labled thread corresponds to the actual core.

2T is where it's at for Intel chipsets. To run 1T with any appreciable ram speed will require more NB and memory voltage then most are willing to use.

cmos chip with the latest bios?

I have the e8400 and just purchased this board and it wont post. Here is what i posted on the DFI forums and they basically suggested i get a 65nm cpu to get it to boot and then flash or get a new cmos chip thats already been flashed.

Anyone know where i can get a new cmos chip with the latest bios?

    Here is what i posted:

i just purchased this motherboard and recieved it yesterday, however its hooked up to my test bed now and refuses to even post. It just goes into an endless power cycle with a post code of 1b.

    Test bed consists of:

    Intel e8400
    x800xl
    520w ocz powersteam
    generic floppy
    WD 20GB pata
    plextor plexwrite cdr drive
    Gskill 4GBPQ (2x2GB)

The mobo and parts are setup outside of a computer case.

    Tried:

only using one stick of memory, tried each stick seperately in all 4 slots.

clearing the bios for 30 min to 60 min several times (removed battery and unplugged power cable).

    A different power supply, seasonic m12 700w.

Put the x800xl in the second x16 slot instead of the first slot.

Removing stock intel HS and reseating the CPU.

Checked all jumpers on the board to make sure they were in the right place.

The only thing i can think to try next is borrow another stick of ddr2 from a friend and see if that works.

    Any suggestions?

Brother Esau can probably help you out with the chip pm him.

If you like to live dangerously (like me / too impatient) you could hot flash your BIOS chip in another board.

    As a do do.

I got another one today, not quite so good but close enough 4 me.

The funny thing is that first one ran hot compared to this one either that or its a BIOS thing as I was on 1224 with the last one & I'm on 0109 now

Smile My replacement Corsair memory is in system, now working on settings

I was able to install the replacement Corsair PC-10000 memory and get it working right away. Kudu's to Corsair for replacing my PC-9136 memory with the top PC-10000 kit at no cost. I also want to thank everyone for the suggestions they posted for me.

The new memory is currently at 544 MHz using 5-5-5-5-12 timings and 2.23 vDIMM. I have left most of the other settings for DRAM timings on auto, and know I can get a more performance once the memory is "dialed in".

It looks like this memory will help me get my Q6600 above 3400 MHz on air. I am an hour into testing with Prime95 at 3480 MHz (435 x 8) and I am quite happy with that.

Unfortunately, I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to sorting out memory timings. What memory timings have the biggest impact on performance? What do you change first? What timings/voltage should I be able to run with these?

Does anyone have experience with this memory and the DFI P35 UT motherboard? If so, what settings were you able to use?

My new E8500 processor is supposed to arrive by next weekend, and I hope to get a much better overclock from it. Here's hoping I get one from a good batch...

At least with only one stepping produced we don't have to worry about whether the mail order places are sending out the "right" one.
