JimmyZ seems to be having issues with his when changing Bios settings and the only way he can get it to boot without a 88 error code is by putting in his E6600 booting then removing it and installing the QX9650
haven't tried my QX9650 on this board yet... so not sure.. IIRC there was a beta bios for DFI X38 for QX9770 only allowed 400FSB Strap and 1:1 to work.. other dividers didn't work... so has he tried sticking to only 1:1 divider for QX9650 ?

Ah found those points seem all points won't allow using a test probe clip for hands free DMM measurement though ?

Hands free can be a little tricky. This is the setup I use. It's a Quick Probe SMD testing device made by AG Devices. With 3 or 4 of them and a multi-channel scope can go through the measurements pretty quick once setup is done.

I tried everything. three bios's, swapped boards and chips so many times I lost count. 9650 will work for 1 boot then 88 code, or no l.e.d., tried the new beta for the 9770 even. so far in 96 hours of owning this board I have only had the yorkfield running for about five hours.never even got a boot on the p-35. very dissapointing.

despite my love of dfi I am buying a board that will support my processor. I plan to hold on to this board (I already insulated it for phase ). if dfi does not come through with a stable bios by ther end of january I will not buy any more dfi products.

clearly they know about the problems, they have not addressed them and continue to advertise that it is compatible, which it is not.

all the performance in the world is worthless if it will not boot....

i hear your frustration!!!!...the bios is pathetic when it comes to a 9650 or even a 9770!!...i had many problems but it was all with Vista...XP worked fine for me up to 4400 mhz...it appears that the 12/28 and 1st release has severe deficiencies with the 9650 and vista...ever since i put my Q6600 back in, it has worked NICELY with XP and Vista.
