    Best OC platform with 4 DIMM's (4*1GB)

Many want to use 4GB of memory and not the 2*2GB combination. Many memorycontrollers don't like this as it seems. Some motherboards does run it quite good.

I'm not an expert in Intel motherboards. I wanted the GA-X38-DQ6, but it fails with 4*1GB hardly with Ballistix PC8500. The ASUS Formula does some better, but really enought?

What is the best chiose? Maybe wait for the X48? The make motherboards with 4 DIMM's, but not to use them

Actually what exactly is wrong witn 4*1 GB Ballistix PC8500 on X38-DQ6 and the Maximus? Don't they run at all or what? What's better on the ASUS?
Do you mean that there is no single board, which runs perfectly with 4x1 GB or there are some issues only in overclocking? Please if someone could explain that..

I'm running a P5K Delux & Ballistix 8500 with no issues. Doesn't seem to make any difference to the overclock.

    Fit and forget.

aL3k: People having problems with stability with the X38-DQ6, and the Formula seems to do better.

Would be good with P35, the problem is that the P35 is bad if you planning to run Crossfire as I want with it's 16x+4x mode. X38 has dual fully 16x slots and is also PCI-E 2.0.

Does anyone know an X38 board that handle 4*1GB Ballistix good in OC?

Maybe we have to wait for X48

Asus Maximus Formula. I've taken my 4x1GB Corsair 6400C4 DHX up to just under 1200MHz in this board! No screenies as it was just a test run but it can be done.

I'd give my vote for the Maximus Formula!

I am running 4 X 1GB of Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 on the new DFI P35-T2R without any issue. Not a super high overclock but 1075mhz so far, 100% stable.

I'm running 4 corsiar sticks (two twin2x2048-8500c5d) at 5-5-5-15, 600mhz at 2.2v on the striker extreme. works great/passes memtest86+ 24-hour run. Though this is with the c2d E6700 chip. I've heard that quad cores knock it down a bit (will find out as I just ordered one).

Hmm About time for me to get some new memory then or something. I just got a qx6850 proc yesterday and found that what I used to be able to run on the same system (everything same except changing the processor) C2D E6700 memory 600Mhz (1200) 5-5-5-15 2t @ 2v. With C2Q QX6850 memory can only pass memtest at 500Mhz (1000) 5-5-5-15 2t @2.225v. So lost 200mhz and increased 0.225v.

2good4you: Personally, I haven't tried neither of the two boards with 4*1 GB, but I've seen the Maximus Formula working pretty fine with 4*1 GB Dominators (PC2-8500).
But I didn't know that the X38-DQ6 has some kind of issues.. Is this a single case, or everybody reports such problems with 4gb?
Do you know about some other issues with these boards, apart from this one? Are they equally good with 2*1gb?
    Soon..

Impressive. Just boring with the Analog Devices audiocontroller on the ASUS...

And Loc.o, can you try some CL4 OC with the 4*1GB 8500 Ballistix and see how high you can get on this Formula board, would be very nice

aL3k: Formula seems to do better with all 4*1GB configs, and the Gigabyte fails with many, specially with Ballistix. Some guys in our Swedish forums has problems with this and is mad, and Gigabyte seems to not care... And also, the X36-DQ6 has too much vcore droop

I'm pretty impressed at how my P5K-E is handling 4x1GB at 475Mhz right now. I'm still CPU priming, so I'll have to find my max FSB later here.

it is fast enough, and u dont have to worry about boards, getting along with 4x1GB, and I get abit tired of D9s dieing......, but I misread your post u actually got the DIMMs, thats a different story, U might wana try the DFI X38 it seems prommising board as the P35 was a succes and the new X38 looks more or less the same only different chipset.
