Yeah, it seems that one must research to find a decent PSU now a days. In any case read my previous post, I've updated with some interesting links.

so far my limits are 734/1890/2000 .. havent even bothered oc mem .. as performance gain is minimal.. or like 0 ....

i have 1 card that can go 776 on core, the other one @ 734 .. both can do 1890 shaders .. oh i have thermalright 03 on 1st card and Zalman VF900 on 2nd card ... it gets to about 57C max during crysis ...

waiting for some full block to release ....

msi 8800gt oc 660/950/1650 stock. (355aud from umart brisvegas.)
    4300@3.0GHz
    3d06: 11850

@720/950/1800 (shader linked to core clk rivatuner2.06)
    3d06: 12075.

tried 700/1000/1900 3d06 shat itself...eithermem or shaders dint like it that high..thinking maybe mem...?

er um 96pussent with stock fan/sink via riva.

room temp 25c idle temp 46c...dont know how to measure load temp on gpu. atitool .27 dont work with this card/drivers or something.
i could probably go a little higher on the core/shaders...for a few more points...

    crysis 1600x1200 all settings HIGH...25-30 fraps 2x AA..playable.

It came in today and I must say I'm quite impressed.
I played sega rally (1280x1024) and it stood up to an easy 55-65fps with a few drops in the high 40's.

Crysis in directx9 all high and 4x (1280x1024) was around 25-35fps and played very well.
In directx10, I put all settings on very high, 1280x1024 (4x enabled) and It crawled at 6-14fps.
Once you get out of the main area and go to where the light comes on, thats where everything just crawls (6-7fps)

So if thats the case, the next card has to be 4-6x faster in order to play this game well at all high settings on direct10 as well better driver tweaking.

Quake wars played great with all settings on high and 16x enabled. Anywhere from 30-45fps, but held steady. The older gts was around 24-35fps.
I haven't put the waterblock on yet, thats for tomorrow. The fan is very loud at 100%.. It sounds like a whistling firework

This was at 740/1850/1000 (x3210 oc to 2.8) and 2 gigs at 1066 crucial ballistix with the latest drivers.

I really like this card and it should hold me off until the 1 terrabyte card is released.
I will say this and this is very important, skip the gts.
There are no other games other than crysis that need that kind of speed, so there is no reason to pay $100 extra for 20-30% better. It's like having a ferrari but driving through downtown stop and go traffic. What we need is 2-3x better.
Save your money and wait for the powerhouse card to come out.

Lol, lost me with that one.

But anyway, tried powering just the card from a different psu and got the same results. Screen freezes, mouse stays active for a few seconds afterward then freezes, then screen goes black and few seconds later machine reboots itself. So I tkink the psu is ok. Would really like to know what the other guy was experiencing...

Sorry to hear that. Did your other video card do this or did it just start with this video card?

My only other suggestion is to RMA it. If you decided to do it I hope that solves your problem.

    1280x1024 4xaa ...up to 34 fraps
    crysis
yer if card dont work take it back/refund get another one...or get a 38xx

yes 4x aa is good...and should be the minimum imo.

virtually no jaggies....which means this card is ok for 1280x1024 with 4xaa for crysis. imo.
    dx9 feels good looks good.

crysis still needs bigger betta card for dx10 higher settings i reckon.

Edit: Wait a minute how did you remove the Cat drivers?
Did you uninstall as normal then:
-use driver cleaner in safe mode
-use ccleaner's tools and issue options to remove any stragglers?
-also removed the ATI hidden devices such as the 1900 and the ATI T200 unified avstream drivers?. Here is how you do it.

so far 734/1890/2000 seem to be max for both cards ... tried oced shader higher to 1944 (the next clock) it would crash crysis after~3mion of gameplay

as long as its crysis stable, stable enough for me

i turned on 8x af and aa supersampling...now i seem to have some frothy bits at the waters edge and more "mist" in the distant foliage ..anywho it seemed to improve the picture slightly...
    im on 730/1950mem/1825shader....
1280x1024 4x aa 8x af supersampling...crysis..looks pretty good ion my screen anyway.
it's slightly better frames than 1600x1200 2x aa.

cod4 is a pieca pi$$ max out all setting for 80-120 fps depending on the action @1600x1200.

i'm just assuming this is a slight improvement on the 8800/640..but dats a guess.

here's my little tests so far (i'm not done testing the limits yet.. just getting bored of watching 3dmark06 for now lol). Sometimes scores go up, sometimes they go down when increasing clocks... kinda odd

next time i play 3dmark06, i'll find the peak score for each clock individually(core/shader/mem), while leaving the others stock...then try all 3 of those peaks together.

Well this is kind of promising...

Stock voltage, swiftech MCW-60, Evga SSC.

Just got the cooling installed, gotta go to work early so any more testing has to wait until tomorrow night.

Not so bad, and coool too.

Oh my... niiiiiiicccccceeeeee!!(insert 200 more exclamation points here)

Can't wait to see... I can only imagine where these cards will go with voltmods soon... I'm going to clock mine with extra cooling first, then I'm probably doing the mod myself .

These cards clock so well already without the mods it seems, it makes me wonder if they have little hedgehogs inside of them like !

It's the 3d view of ATItool, works great to pump up your temps by stressing the card as a quick-and-dirty test.

Hey, just a heads up, stock metered vGPU voltage on the SSC is 1.107 idle at desktop and 1.137 loaded. Stock vMem voltage is 1.995.

Is it just me or is this a little bit above spec?

    Running 3DMark 05 now at 800mhz core, 1890 shader and 2050 memory...

Yes, it is a bit above spec, the normal is 1.05 idle, and 1.10 loaded... maybe the BIOS on the SSC and (maybe) the KO has a higher voltage set enabled ? Any chance you can dump your BIOS using NiBitor and upload it somewhere for comparison to a KO and a normal XFX?
