Quick asus maximus formula question

Hello there two quick questions
1. Can you run the asus maximus formula board passive because I see fitting for water cooling or does it come with a passive block as well
2 what size tubing does the nb want? Thanks...

Manual says nothing that you have to WC it. I went and WC'd it just to be safe.

It comes with a bag of fittings. The NB is 3/8'' but you get some converters for 3/8'' to 1/2'', you also get a bit of 3/8'' tubing, clamps

fusion gives you the option to w/c, not required.

Cheap, mass made, but it works and thats what matteres and cost me nothing which really really does matter.

The hose is crap, too plasticy, the adpaters are good

keep in mind that even at low quality it will get the job done your only cooling a 18w ddr3 to 27w ddr2 chip. no need to go and replace all the blocks unless your doing water on sb nb and mosfet

So the SE of the maximum formula comes with two nb blocks? Or just buy the non SE edition because I'm a bit confused and this evga board seems to be dying on me

one nb block to barbs one for inflow and one for outflow

It has 2 holes for incoming water, and outgoing water. And You do not need to water cool it.

I understood the barbs part, but I thought you had to wc it... oh well, I understand now, does it run alot hotter without being cooled?

I can't answer that question, Unless your pushing alot of voltage though the chipset, I don't think it matters.

Hmm also one more thing, the nb removes seperately correct? so would it be possible to install the thermalright hr-05 on it? I have it on my evga... I don't want it to go to waste

Hmm I heard theres another asus maximum formula that has a nb passive cooler is this true? also how do you think the p5e compares to the maximus?

to the other guy- its like the blitz, you dont need to watercool; just an option to.

Before I want to start a new thread asking people about the "difference" between P5E and Maximus Formula, I think I'll ask it away here instead.

I read this statement from a couple members already: The P5E and Maximus Formula are essecially the same board using the same PCB; You just pull off the P5E sticker and you'll find Maximus Formula printed underneath it.

I know when new boards are still in their initial stage of release, one of the few people may start this kind rumour or joke about two different board and I don't mean anyone one of you. I mean the one who first passed on this info. This is what I've seen in the past where one guy puts out a joke by maskin taped his P5B board with a P5K deluxe sticker and that concluded as just a rumour in the end.

I'd like to see an actual source where you guys find that the P5E is exactly the same board as Maximus Formula with same amount of caps and identical placement of them.

I did check P5E/Maximus Formula official released boards HD photos and I honestly cannot tell a difference with the amount of caps used and the placement of them. Maybe they're essecially the same thing just Maximus Formula has a "better" BIOS plus the bells and whistles from the included bundle accessories/items.

As for me which board is worth it, it all comes down how overclocking friendly is the supported BIOS really. If Maximus Formula does get better support with BIOS that yields better compatibility and greater OC-ability than P5E eventhough they're the same board, then I think enthusiasts including myself would pay for the difference which isn't "fair" in my opinion but it's what enthusiasts seek for without a choice.

My next question would be is it possible to flash P5E mobo with Maximus Formula BIOS if they're the same board?

SE is due to the waterblock on the NB which is crap, i tried blowing water through it and although im a smoker it was way to hard. Asus should focus on making better mobos.
