wonder if AUTO value for TB changed it's default from 0311/0403 to 0404 bios ?
yep may have shifted, like i say my settings are exactly the same except for that, so maybe.

My 0403 super pi may be be abit slow:-
some muppet hadn't disabled speedstep didn't notice it myself till JimNastics over on hexus spotted it

I wish they would tell us what changed so it takes the guess work out of it. So as of now which bios are you recommending?

Lol what would we do then??
    I'm happy with 0404.

May have missed it, has anyone identified the measuring points for vcore, vdimm etc.,

After getting my system up and running last night with the 404 bios. I also noticed that Pi is a bit slow. With my Striker Extreme I could do 14.3 sec 1m and with this P5K i'm doing 14.5 sec 1m.

Funny thing is I was stability testing it while I slept and my alarm couldn't wake me up this afternoon but the "beep" from orthos woke me up instantly.

Orthos failed after 8 hours lol gotta keep going at it.

I use 0311 bios and I am running Orthos stable with 8 gig RAM (4x2 GB), transaction boost enabled, lvl 1, FSB 475 1:1 on a QX6700. The board can handle it. I suspect one of your other components.

I am getting faster PI times 1m

    First one is 0403 (running 9x420) and second is 0404 (running 9x410), then a 32m from 0404 running 9x410

Sorry didn't screen shot with cpu specs listed, see my specs below.

Hey Eagleclaw no offense but if those are 3.7ghz superpi's that's not that fast.

But anyway one thing i did notice about this mobo is that i could run my memory a lot faster than my striker extreme.

On my striker extreme my memory would top out at 1130. Anything over 1130 and it wouldn't even boot. Now my memory is easily running what you see below. I knew it was always the striker and not the memory itself because it wouldn't even boot at 1mhz higher just give memory error beep codes.

Okay can confirm 0404 bios has been tweaked with tighter latencies and more bandwidth that 0311/0403 bios.

With the below settings memtest86+ v1.70 reported bandwidth for the bioses are as follows:

    • 0311 bios = 6015 MB/s
    • 0403 bios = 6012 MB/s
    • 0404 bios = 6250 MB/s <-- unstable for me at below settings errors in memtest which I assume is why bios hangs with the below settings. Tried disabling DDRAM Static read or setting sub timings at AUTO and made no difference. Raising NB volts from 1.55v to 1.70 helped lessent memtest86+ v1.70 test #5 errors but still they existed.
I flashed back to 0311 bios and same settings below are again stable for me. So I guess i'd need to loose subtimings more on 0404 bios to get things stable - I wonder if it will effect max memory clocking frequency though with 0404 bios versus previous bioses ?

Update: with 0311 bios and below settings i changed TRTP: from 8 to 3 and memtest86+ v1.70 reports 6249 MB/s bandwidth now close to that of 0404 bios but it's stable in memtest86+ v1.70 so far. I'd probably stick with 0311 bios for this reason

Interesting, now bring on the 5 series bios to see what that does. I hate to go backwards in bios releases. Is 1.7v NB safe 24/7 or will it run temps up to high? By the way, have you tried with cpu damper off? Under high vcore with phase I can't run damper at all. I'm not even sure what it does.

ooops, missed that post. I'll have to try lowering vcore and setting damper on then. If you do this, no need for vdroop mod then?
