    Best AM2 board to recommend?

Just curious as to what the best/most recommended AM2 board would be that is currently released. It doesn't have to be the most spectacular at overclocking but am hoping for a great reputation in terms of stability and reputation with a half decent feature set. It will probably be running a 5600+.

Any info and suggestions would be appreciated.

While we are at it what ram would one recommend as being highly recommended? Again overclocking extremes doesn't have to be a necessity so tighter timings may be beneficial. I am looking at a 2GB kit. Any particular makes and models?

    Thanks for this.

Asus M2N-SLI D and DFI Infinity NF UltraII-M2 are the most popular. Corsair XMS2 PC6400C4 is a good choice, it worked very well for me on both of those boards. OCZ Platinum worked very well for me on the DFI board as well, though I didn't try it in the Asus.

I recommend the ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe (Not the M2N SLI Deluxe) - The M2N32-SLI has a nForce 590 chipset and some good cooling. Its a great performer as well.

I have a M2N SLI Deluxe and it has some problems like incorrect temperature reporting, which asus as no clue how to solve.

Edit: The OCZ Platinum R2 works great in this ASUS mobo @ 4-4-4-15

Well my mobo used to show idle CPU temp as 60deg c and on running 3DMark it used to go as high as 80deg c but still very stable and used to run 24x7. So obviously it was reporting the temps incorrectly (with all software).

When I called ASUS support they said the CPU was faulty (duh!). They also said 80 degrees would have fried my CPU by now.

In my case the mobo finally failed after 6 months (I am actually RMAing it right now).

The M2N32 is a much better mobo IMO.

Yes ASUS has a forum on support.asus.com

Not the best in the world, but I would rate it up there with the DFI/Asus

The TForce550 is a great board for $70, should be able to max out a 3600+ easily.

Im happy with my MSI K9N Ultra-2F. Hits 300HTT, has enough ram config, is cheap, passive cooling. Only problem is the lack of voltage.. 2.55 to vmem, 1.65 to vcore and no NB overvoltaging. ;(

Got it with less than $120 in Finland, so should be around $100 in everywhere else, especially Germany.

I appreciate all the responses. This setup wasn't for me but for a friend. I have passed on all the info I gathered here so now it is up to him.

I have zero issues with the M2N-SLI Deluxe. My temps are correctly reported (or as close as mobo sensors get).

If you are still seeking RAM suggestions.... the OCZ Titaniom Alpha VX2 sticks are now running ~$230 for a 2GB set. PC8000 and will run 4,4,3,15,1T @900MHz on 2.2v. They have worked beautifully with the DFI LP UT nF590 M2R/G.

Anyone know about Foxconn C51XEM2AA-xxxxxxxx boards.(nf590)

I'm looking to upgrade finally to am2 and we can't get DFI boards in Aus at the moment. (Bad warranty issues apparently)

The other one I was looking at was the nf590 am2 from Evga.

Has anyone used/know about these two.

    Thanks.

I have the Foxconn C51XEM2AA and it is great for overclocking. I've reached 400Mhz FSB/HT-Link stable und with my X2 4000+ 3372Mhz.

Here is a link about my OC-session:

    Hey nice clocks there SeLect.

I'm not too keen on Asus and this board seemed to be the best buy here in Aus.

I'm looking at putting a 6000+ in there. (They are insanely cheap atm)

Is there an issue with non micron ram?

The board costs $260 Au$ here.

    $400 for a crosshair, $375 for M2N32 sli.

The Foxconn wins hands down for price alone.

You have a Brisbane if your sig is up to date. Pretty sure the temp sensor is highly inaccurate on those.

Depends on what sensor you are reading, all "Core" temp readings with Brisbane will be way too low. The onboard mobo sensors should still work correctly.
