Yes you connected the right dots....

And you have exactly the same effects as on my P5B dlx. It booted on the overclocked settings (311FSB). The first time I switched the pc back on after doing the mod, it booted in fail safe mode. The cpu was not ticking at 1066, but just at the default 800 FSB (1.80 GHz). But when I changed to auto settings, it didn't boot anymore.

So does this mean that the E4300 is able to utilize this pin mod?? Or just not on some boards? Im not seeing anyone say this works on the E4300.

I want to do 200--->333 pinmod on my E4300 & DS3 rev 3.3. It supports 1333 fsb. Says soo in big letters right on the box. I will probably have to do a V mod on the chip also but thats ok.

I have no question about my ability to do the mod correctly, I just want to have an idea if its going to work or not.

I am wondering what constitutes a low and a high. What is the voltage range that constitues a high or low?

What I dont know ANYTHING about, is the "strap". I know it has to do with the memory. but thats about it. So the questions are: Can someone explain to my in painfully lengthy detail as to what it actually is and how this effects me and my DS3rev3.3 board?
What is the difference between the 800, 1067, and 1333 straps???
    Which one is better?

Or at least link me to where I can find this info. In the meantime I will google if for some toilet time reading...hehe

on ds3, just pinmod to 266. hang on to that 1066 strap. it'll be able to move to 1333 post400 anyway

Waht you fail to realize is that the E4300 will not go over 370FSB on this board. I have yet to find one single person that has done it. Let alone break 400 fsb.

    I modded my E6600 with the 1066->1333 pin-mod. It's working fine..

Now I noticed my vcore has gone up from 1,29v to 1,41v (bios measured). My cpu-voltage is @ auto. I thought that this mod would leave the voltage at the original VID (1,3250v)?

How do i get the voltage back down without setting it manually (i want Speedstep to work).

My E4300 did not benefit at all from the 200-266 mod being done.
It worked......and the CPU would boot up at 266x9 2400 default.
But it didnt seem to change anything else as far as overclocks.
370fsb was and is about it. Modded or not makes no difference.
I didnt try the 333 mod since I know I cant boot 3GHz at default volts.

Has someone done this mod successfully on a stock 800fsb cpu's?
And is it possible to do this mod on other cpu's than C2D, like older Intel's..

And is it possible to mod a 800fsb to boot on 1333fsb?

WannaGoFast, You connected BSEL1 to VSS (H30 to L30) ?

My Asus won't boot at the known mod (H30 to L30) and following configurations:

As you can see I have isolated the dots, so the high signal of BSEL2 would not leak to the socket.

When I only isolate BSEL2 (H30) and not use any silverpaint, it boots normally at 9x 200MHz... As if BSEL2 does not do anything or is just low by default, or high (H) is defined as 0 volt and low (L) is defined as a minvoltage (like -30mV) :?

Most mobos (all I've seen so far) raise vcore along with the clocks when vcore is set to auto. Mobo tries to keep required voltage and usually it's a slight overkill.

AFAIK you can't use Speedstep. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

unfortunately, i haven't seen the ability to use vid transitions when setting vcore manually or auto with the p5b when overclocking. iirc, the ds3 did allow it.

on the p5b, using rmclock, you can see that it's always vid for 1.325 or whatever your cpu's highest is. changing it down doesn't change anything either, which explains why when you speedstep down to 6x, 7x, etc, it doesn't drop anything. oh well

I did the mod as pictured above, H30 to L30 on my 4300 and it booted fine at default 2400MHz 266x9 with 800MHz ram speed.

I took it off after testing it for a few weeks as I decided it didnt really do anything to help my overclock.

FIRST wait, wait. Hmm.. I didnt isolate anything on my E4300, i just connected H30 to L30. What do i have to isolate then?

From what i'am reading here (i made a @266 mod) and on ocforums i just have to make BSEL1 to LOW to get 266 fsb. So connect it to vss, or isolate it, or both?

SECOND Problem with not powering up afterthis mod may be related to mem dividers? Did anyone checked if they behave same as before? Maybe with ram set to 800mhz it were clocked higher than that?

I don't know if you have to isolate. I have just tried it because it wasn't working by simply connecting VSS to BSEL1. But isolating BSEL1 seems more logic to me, because otherwise the high signal will dominate over the low signal...

The point is, BSEL1 on E4300 is default HIGH. But connecting a VSS (L30) to BSEL1 will work on a small selection of motherboards.
In my view, it seems more logical to make BSEL low by isolating it, so the high signal will be blocked.

But this doesn't seem to work. I have some theories about this:

    - On motherboards where L30-to-BSEL1 mod (without isolation) "works", the motherboard reads out a unknown value. (The VSS voltage is not in the range of the Low and High specifications of Intel, so the motherboard does not know the value). Then the motherboard falls back at its default FSB programmed in the motherboard bios (might be 266). Motherboards where this mod does not work, do not "fall back" to a programmed default FSB. They simply not boot (like p5b deluxe).

    OR

    - The motherboards, where the L30-to-BSEL1 mod does not work, compare the bsel setting with the bios table entry of the CPU ID from the cpu which is in the socket. So, when there is a difference, it simply refuses to boot.
So.. also an E6600 modded to 1333 or 1600 FSB will not work on these boards.

just for interest sake for those who care...
i have an e6600 that walled at 500fsb 6x multi on DFI P965-S
performed the pinmod, in post#1, to 333fsb and now the wall is broken...6x multi can now clock up to 520 fsb and my ram may be the limit there...

so for those of you who have 333fsb capable boards and can't figure out why your fsb is mysteriously stuck at some point near 450-500fsb this pinmod may help.

Same thing at my case, I did bsel mod on my E4300 Q643... with silver and they work, defult boot at 266, but I don't get any improvement on fsb. Before and after bsel mod wall is 405 fsb. Board is biostar 965pt with 0404RH bios.

Can you confirm you're doing this:
1)on the same ram, mobo and bios?
2)try undo the mod and run fsb520 with the same settings after the mod to confirm the gain on fsb20

well i think i allready posted this but here it goes again, i have a week 41A 4300 and i use to have a biostar tforce 965pt and a asus p5b-d that i tried it on with my phase change cooling,

pre mod (the 266fsb mod connecting 2 and 5) on the biostar had a 400fsb wall no matter voltage under phase, anything over 400 was unstable or wouldnt boot, tried everything,
the p5b-d whad the same wall with the 0804 bios, 400 fine anything over going up to 450 (i tried) would not boot

solutions- for the asus without the bsel modd i tried the 0711 bios, it didnt recognize the cpu correct so it booted at 266x9 default, so now the max i could clock it was 462x9 with 1.58vcore, (remember this is onphase), the bsel mod would not work on the p5b-d but the old bios did work for me

now the biostar using the 119 or 103 bios or the 921 deluxe bios (all from rebels haven ) with the bsel mod had the exact same results of 462x9, it booted right upo at 266x9 and i clocked it up the same under phase

so it works with biostar but not p5b-d but the old 0711 bios works in the same aspect

    good luck

it gets rid of the fsb wall on some chips which does net more, its jsut not allways a workable option

I did the 1333Mhz FSb on 6300,after c cmos it boots at 2.33(333x7) but in the bios at cpu information FSB=1066
When i set everything at auto and save...then the speed is 1.86...

    WTF?
