Hello everybody. 1st time poster here.

I'd like to thank all the people that have put this sticky together. Its been a life saver.

    Anyways... I have one question:

On the PCI-E frequency, I'm at 120 now. How much higher can I go and still be safe?

The reason I'm asking is with my 7900GS @ 630/869 and default CPU settings, my 3dMark05 score is 10,316.
When I follow the guides in this sticky about overclocking the cpu and set the PCI-E freq. to 100 and have the same exact gpu clocks, ny 3dMark score is significantly lower (9,000 or so).

when I bump up the PCI-E freq. to 120, my score goes back up to 10,715.

I'm wondering if I've done something wrong or what?

    here's a screenshot:
    http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g8...th3dmark05.jpg

This is using all stock cooling too.

Any advice or help is appreciated.

vfsb has to be lower than 1.45v to get max oc on cpu for me, have tryed only 1.4v (i used it at 1.45v before) maybe 1.3v is better we'll see

Yeah it seems to be a quirk with these boards that vertain settings make it go into 1x mode on the PCI-E, i went through the same thing and im not sure what fixed it. Use CPU-Z to see what your pci-e is set at... i bet when you are getting that 9k score you are at 1x.

Edit: Sorry, just noticed you had a 700w OCZ PSU, that shouldn't be the case then. However, you could be running 2x X1900XTs in Crossfire, with your water pump sucking a decent amount of juice... it may still be the case? Just an idea that's all...
I raised the NB and FSB Termination voltages to max. That seemed to help a bit, I can now pass 3DMark03, but not 3DMark05. I still can run Orthos (large FFT's and Blend) for 12+ hours. I'm running small FFT's now. It always reboots on the CPU test part of 3D Mark05. Maybe some Vdroop during very demanding applications? Perhaps I'll need to increase my VCore a bit...currently at 1.5v in BIOS, reads 1.44 under load in AI Suite. Also, I still have Vanderpool enabled because I just haven't done a cold boot in a while.

And, BTW, 711 BIOS has solved my double restart problem.

    I don't think that's stable. in his sig it says 460FSB @ 1.4v.

I'm hitting a wall at 405FSB. Having said that I'm testing for 24/7. I have 1.4875 to CPU and 2.1v to mem on a 1:1 divider
It was a long road and one that is now over. Behold the updatedrig:

But what DDR2 sticks is that with ? I think that would depend on other factors in the NB timings...
Signature? are you kidding? with new stuff coming out every day, why bother ?

1 Minute in Orthos is NOT stable. Also try using Intel TAT and see how fast you start dropping your overclock.

I was under the impression to test stability you needed to run 2 instances of orthos and super pi? or did the rules change? whenever I am doing a stability test that's what I have been doing....however if it is "game" stable and you are not crunching numbers for NASA or scanning the web for extraterrestrial life then so be it....

Anyone know what would be best to do quick 3d benchies ?

I am having the same issue with 3d performance at high clocks, but I need a baseline to experiment with. Not really interested in paying for 3dMark so I don't have to sit through a 20 minute bench session....

Hows your orthos? dont blame the board on a weak CPU. Then again maybe its the power delivery.

I feel more and more every day that the droop mod is a must.

I havent done it yet, but the cpu volts just seem so unstable to me. coolaler says it doesnt matter, but maybe it will help me get my 6400 over 4ghz. (cant get over 3.96.)

My Orthos is fine, see my sig, hardly a weak cpu is it ? , the highest air/water orthos result ive seen. Regarding the power Ive tried 2 Enermax liberty 620s and a Tagan 430 and it always been the same.

Folks, there is nothing to proof from Orthos since you can't validate it. E.g.: Fooling your self by cuting & paste someone Orthos long hour screeen shot, and mod it a bit on the freq and make it a wall paper !

No cutting and pasting here. Doing some FSB testing.

I'll let it run a little while longer. Ambient temp is around 24C. Using Tuniq Tower 120.
