Yeah, abit is putting quite some effort into this. Can't wait to get my hands on the new beta BIOS.

sicness, (I only read till about page4 or page5), sorry to hear you got bad board (wrong 12v connector). Hope you get a replacement and also hope you'll get one with a good BIOS too. I see a potential for this, let's hope Abit can live up to the enthusiasts' expectations.

Thanks. I have another ordered board on it's way (might arrive tomorrow already) and abit's replacement coming up next week.

BTW, more results emerge - ZABEK at hardwareluxx.de is running 430x8 with default 1,7V, still testing.

    Edit: Typo.

Let's see if with the new bios this MB unleashes even more power.

Sicness, nice to see that ABIT solved that annoying problem and you are going to get a new MB.
    Good luck.

A new beta BIOS has been posted on hardwareluxx.de, it's possible to change multis in BIOS now. See this post.

Although Alex tested it and it works for him ... !Flash on your own risk!

427 x 7 please tell me that isnt all he has gotten ?

so when does the "Max" actually start kicking in ? do you have to like yell at it ? threaten it ?

427 on the 1066 strap is probably quite fast, especially on the 975 chipset. I think ABit need to focus on enabling a 1333fsb strap to get this board hitting 450fsb. I'd like to see how this current bios performs with the 4mb cache cpu's (E6600 upwards). Next week, I'll find out...

    exactl. 1333strap is missing

no way to get the ddr2-1000C4 running at specified speeds - 427 C4-3-3-5 is max for 1:1

    4:5 RAM maxes out @ ~920

1067MHz strap almost always gives the best performance. This is why people's obsession with FSB is sometimes misplaced. You are sometimes better off running with slightly lower FSB and tighter strap.

exactly, recently in the mid market, I've noticed that the less hardcore users of boards get quite good benching scores in 3dmark on the DFI975XG, it has not got great FSB in most cases, but it's a damn fast board.

I dunno what the norm is at the higher straps for other boards, but i get just under 8900mbs ram bandwidth on the 1066 strap at 385fsb 4:5 divider.. For those with X6700's on air it's a great board. Of course for super pi, other things become important...

Unfortunately, Super-Pi 1M does almost the same with whatever Ram modules you have.....No big deal.....Either you play with 4-4-4-12 or with 3-2-2-1, you'll se no big changings.....Though at 32M you can see it, OR WinRar 3.61 OR Pi-fast......

    Exactly
My Friend did compare on P5B Dlx
    8x450 ram 1:1 4-4-4 vs 9x400 ram 1:1 4-4-4 and ... in all benchmarka 9x400 was better

I will run the Asus board tonight with the new 1404 bios. In the meantime here is the E6300 on the Abit board with the new beta bios. The Sandra 2007 scores are UnBuffered. The board will boot at 7x475, can only run benchmarks starting around 7x465 and it appears 7x460 might be stable (for some benchmarking runs, not 24/7) at this time although I have several benchmarks left to run. I am still having the same issues as before with PC-8500 and above modules from OCZ/GSkill/Geil in trying to run at 1:1 ratios, they run fine at 4:5, some at least boot now and others might do 1:1 but are not stable. I had to use the Corsair 6400C3 modules for 1:1 capability. Also, PCI-E issues with the SATA ports are gone now, well the option to change PCI-E speeds has been removed from the bios. Although you can change them with uGuru in Windows but it depends on your drive if it works or not. X6800 is still locked at 11x maximum and so far all of my retail chips have worked properly with the downward multiplier.

    Great, thanks mate
How much volts on the MCH?
Wish I could push my board further ... that 1:1 issue is really annoying. You don't happen to have some Elpida chipped RAM sticks you could throw in for a quick 1:1 test?

1.90 MCH, going higher did not help, extending memory timings did not help, just at the limit of our board.... I have a set of Elpida I will try. The Micron D9 has been my focus this afternoon. I will try the E6600 here shortly. I just dropped down to 7x455, failed a three loop run of 3D06 just a minute ago.

Looking forward to see the results.

7 x 455, 95% stable, still failed a couple of benchmarks with the 7950GX2 overclocked. Memory timings are improved but I still could not match previous results with the Corsair 6400C3 at this speed.

7 x 450, memory was perfect at 3-4-3-10, passed all benchmarks so far and dual Prime95 stable for the past couple of hours. Looks like we have a winner at this setting on our board (which is not the best sample around). I am moving to the E6600 now and will have updated Asus results later.
