The fan looks like the old mag-lev fan from nF4 series. I don't think it will be too loud...

can i ask a stupid question, i dont think its stupid but..... :\
why are board makers STILL putting 4x/8x and 1x pci-e slots on boards ?
aside from 1 sata II controller that i personally use i have never seen anything else ever use the pci-e 1x and never ever anything on the 4x or 8x slots.

so why the frick are they still putting them on there.

    has anyone ever seen a n y t h i n g use those slots ?
and btw the little 1x pci-e sata II raid card i have is a great little card uses the Sil 3132 chipset .
very tiny card, smaller than the 1/2 height NIC cards.
so anyways why are we still being subjected to ttoally useless pci-e slots and pci slots are being reduced down to 2 or 3 max.
Creative has already stated they have absolutely no plans to create a pci-e sound card
and there isnt anyting i can think of aside from a sata II controller that uses a pci-e slot.
maybe a SCSI card but i havent seen them and definately not for the consumer side.

i maybe wrong here but spin works for dfi taiwan? i think i dont know
(thought i saw some of the other guys here mention he was an employee)

Uhh... You seem to be contradicting youself there. I mean you say that you are personally using a SATA II controller on the 4x/8x slot and then ask why?

Anyway why question a good thing. If you have enough lanes on the chipset then, why not? You can always use the 1x cards in a 4x or 8x slot.

I can't believe you are arguing against increased bandwidth.

    The new board looks awesome.
Once they release a few more bios revisions, this board should rock.

The only reason I can find to chose this one over ASUS Crosshair is the angled SATA ports.. Looks good, but like the ASUS board more, as the look of it is better, and it seems to be on par or better than the DFI when looking on the options on the board..

yes this board is very nice, but i have been a little dissapointed with the 500 series mobo as most reviews i have seen most cant crack 300hht and if they do they are not stable,i hope more bios updates will fix the problem.
I really like the bios so many options.keeping fingers crossed that updates wont be far behind.
