    DS3 or DQ6 -> custom HSF ?

    I wanted to be sure if custom HSF (Tuniq tower, ninja+... etc) could be installed on DS3 and DQ6?

    And isb't the DQ6 supposed to be better than the DS3 ? the price difference between them is little here, so i just wanted to get the better performing not the one with better value

    on dq6 backplate (the crazy cool stuff) must be removed for tq120 I think, thats why I choosed ds4 since it was cheaper aswell btw I see no difference between dq6 and ds4, so I recommend you buy either ds4 or ds3

    You can indeed install the Ninja + on a DS3, it's in the DS3 FAQ (sticky) and I use one myself on my DS3.
    My rig:
    E6400 @ 2.96ghz | Gigabyte DS3 | G.Skill 2GBNR PC6400 | Sapphire X1900XT | Creative X-Fi xtreme music | 250GB WD | etc...

    I have the Ninja with my DQ6. And yes, I did remove the crazycool - took me some time and effort, yet the mission was accomplished Nearly impossible? Nah, it's the same as installing the ninja - the first time is quite difficult, but later on it's a piece of cake.

    Wink Crazy Cool - DQ6 - Big Typhoon sandwhich (bolt straight over heatspreader)

    I have DQ6 and installed my new Big Typhoon straight over the top of the Crazy Cool heatspreader, no foam or mylar.

    Two points of the backplate extend beyond the heatspreader by approx. 10mm and are therefore in mid air above the MB, about 5mm. I tightened standoffs carefully until a point where bracket starts to bend yet isn't bending the MB. I WILL get some washers or make something of appropriate size to take up this gap (recommended).

    There was still sufficient screw length to thread the four nuts onto the heatsink bracket.

    No problems - E6400 @ 3.32 54c average during dual-prime (16hrs...)
    (although I notice 59c max this morning, where it was only 55c max after hours last night. Ambient temp is now about 3c higher, which explains it.)

    Personally I think this arrangement is safe provided you are very careful not to stress the board when tightening the standoffs. The whole heatspreader, sandwiched between, serve to stiffen the board in this area too.

    No experience with Ninja though, so check the length of your screws (assuming that that's how you affix it to the MB)
