    lukija, hm....i have a request

    My problem is that i always need to use memtest in bios to see the memory bandwidth when i change some DRAM setting in bios.

    It would be very nice if we had one tool (like A64info) where we can change all the settings, AND the clocks, FID, VID etc.. (like nf4clock gen)...and ithad a function where it does some testing to see the theoretical bandwidth of memory as in memtest.

    Then you could switch some value, like TRCD, TWTR etc...and see the theoretical result in A64info ! Like "2997 MB/s memory bandwith" and i dontneed to check what memtest says.

    You could also include some information about memory latency, maybe.

    Just an idea

    ------
    Edit: Other idea..well..iam bored...so i thought i give you some input..lol

    There are certain rules of thumb for certain DRAM values, one here
    http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/9222

    (eg.
    tras should be cas+ trcd + 2)
    trcd= trp
    trc=tras+trp
    trfc=trc+2

    etc...those are general guidlines...and i often use this to calculate my stuff. So...there could be a help-fuction in a64info where you use this formulas..and when you enter a value it could auto-adjust/suggest values for the others. Just an idea.

    Flexy, good ideas! Suggested values - no problem, i will add it. I was thinking of bandwidth measurement a year ago when I started to develop A64Info. Just need to find good algorithm which uses SSE2 instructions.

    P.S. VID, FID and nf4clock is on the way.

    Can you comment whether this prog is going to work with new revision opterons eg 22xx socket F, or indeed the current s940 like 285, in 2 x socket MOB? Will it be chipset dependent? I must say that would be great if had good workstation OC facility.

    Currently it works with all (I hope so) K8 cpus which use DDR RAM. For DDR2 i need to rewrite DRAM section. Regardig multi CPU systems, i don't know, CPU detection should work OK but mem ctl tweaking remains mistery to me, in this version it is fixed to work only with one memory controller (I guess on the first CPU). Maybe I should add option to choose memory controller.

    There are a lot ppl wanting to OC dual cpu workstation boards, lot of posts on other forums. Some of these ppl may have opinion, I will see if any have / want to tried A64info.

    Yup, there was a bug in LL library which stoped me for a while. Multiplier change works, still have to add voltage adjust and clock chage (nf4 only).

    Yes, bug in LL lib is fixed, voltage and multi change is working, still have to add nF4 support. I cannot promise release date, maybe some alpha test version during next week.

    hi lukija, can you add also 0T timing ?

    Now we can choose only 1T and 2T...but 0T ?

    what is this program used for exactly? just used to tell u ur bios settings, and the calculator is used to find clock speeds if you were to change something? is that it?

    @robgeb

    0T is not possible. This is controlled by only bit - off means 1T, on means 2T:

    "Enable 2T Timing (En2T)—Bit 28. When this bit is set, DRAM commands and address will be driven for 2 clock cycles and qualified with an associated chip select on the second phase of the two-clock command and address"

    @john3 - yes it can tell you various settings for memory controller but you can also change one if your BIOS can't. Calculator is in handy if you want to overclock, it can help you to "simulate" what happens if you change various parameters (multi, HTT, memlck, ODC, LDT).

    Hello again!

    Much time has passed since I posted here my last message. lukija Have you already downloaded the latest BKGD for the NPT family processors? Please, check out the ThermalTrip Status register! It could be useful to see temperature measurements in your software. This software with a free source code can help you to meet with a topic. Good luck!

    Respect VVJ Yes, I have downloaded BKGD, when I finish this S939 version I will add support for AM2. Spasibo for the tip and source code.

    Ok, new version, 0.62 beta:

    http://avala.yubc.net/~lukija/A64Info-beta.exe

    - added support for multiplier change
    - added support for voltage change (I do not know if it has any use)
    - added support for nF4 clock change
    - reading core temperatures (10x goes to VVJ)

    Some things to explain:

    - some CPUs do not allow multiplier change (some semprons), this has yet to be tested
    - saving settings now saves current values of CPU multiplier, voltage and HTT (if you have nF4). If you load preset, it will adjust DRAM setting but will not adjust multi, voltage and clock, since they are placed on other tab. Still applying settings at startup will work OK (it will set DRAM settings and CPU multi, voltage and clock). If you do not want to change some particular parameter (eg. multi, or voltage or HTT or combination of them, just delete it from settings file using text editor. Delete whole section with value.

    Planned (int this order):
    - reorganizing application layout in order to be more screenshot friendly and logical
    - adding support for AM2 (latter) and maybe support for nF3 anf nF5 chipsets (clock change)

    WOW, great!!! Clock generator works great, and multiplier changer too! But voltage is wrong. On my Winchester it's (1.425+(1.425*6,6%) 1.52 but the program shows 1.425... And the temperature is little weird. It jumps 2-3C up or down wery fast when CPU usage is high.
    Beside this few problems the program is GREAT!!! Good work!

    Yes I know about voltage. That's why I said It has no use (at least on my system). I can change it as much as I want but it makes no difference. Maybe someone else will find it usefull. Regarding temperature readings - this is just what CPU reports. My suggestion is to use some specialised monitoring tool (MBM, SpeedFan ...).

    everything works, i just checked voltages, multi etc.

    The point is if you dont have VID Ctrl on AUTO in bios you cannot do anything in Windows. If its on Auto then you can modify the VID on the fly in Windows. (or cool'n'quiet or rmclock, whatever

    The only thing which does NOT work right is the CPU temp, A64info shows it as too high. Don't know how you read it...but i use mbm and the dfi-nf4 setttings for it.

    Also..is there ANY way to implement a HTT-link multi slider ????

    I am looking forever already for a tool where i can set all my stuff (A64info...yeah and ALSO the HTT link-freq, like 3x, 4x etc. for HTT.

    Problem is almost NO tool has that option...so if i overclock my HTT to 330 or so and need to turn down my HTT-link to 3x (instead of 4x) i need another tool or set that from bios !

    The temperature in A64Info for the most part is close to accurate. It is using the thermal sensor to report the temps just like CoreTemp is. MBM, the bios and most other programs are using the thermal diode. Although there doesn't seem to be any info available from AMD on the accuracy of the thermal sensor one can assume it to be fairly accurate. It is the sensor that the Thermtrip register uses to shut down the processor in case of overheating. On the other hand, AMD states in various white papers that the thermal diode should not be used for heat management control. They also state that the diode could have a margin of error as great as 14C. For the majority of processors it can be assumed that the thermal sensor, if not totally accurate, is closer to being correct then the thermal diode.

    10x for explanation. I will try to reporduce it on my system.

    Well, I allready told that, you should use specialised SW like MBM, SpeedFan whatever. This is just infromational, I think I will remove it becuase it brings only confusion.
